I got a set of Barrett produced racks for my Wolfman bags and thought I should say how happy I am the racks but more importantly the service and support form both Adventure Moto and Jason at Barrett exhausts.
I have the pre production set Jason produced, Nickj purchased a set of the production racks and had both of them break on the recent 3 states ride. The racks breaking wasn’t good but Jason and Steve’s support has been great. I rang Steve from Adventure Moto on the Sunday when they broke. Jason rang me on the Monday and Steve had contacted him. Jason asked where we were and said he would contact a welder in Jindabyne and have the racks welded to get Nick home. We decided it would be better to take the racks back for Jason to see how and exactly where they were broken. We stopped in at Jason’s the Thursday and spoke with Jason. Jason was upset they had broken and was concerned our trip had been affected by the racks breaking which we said hadn’t. He had a new set of the same racks there he wanted to fit so Nick could continue the trip and that he would replace with the next batch of modified racks, he listened to what we said and thought should be changed to make the racks better and stronger. Last week I got my racks modified to the latest spec including a back brace. The top mount plates was where both Nick’s broke ( mine didn’t as the pre production ones had thicker plates ) well the plates have been replaced with even thicker material again
Top mounts
Back support bar
.
Thanks Barretts, Jason and Steve
One thing for me regarding this whole experience is that had I purchased my racks OS the quick service and support wouldn’t have been available I do like to support local, I know it’s hard with the dollar at 1.10 but for me this helps

May 4, 2011 at 1:30 pm #200591Its good to see an Australian made rack – doesn’t seem to be much Aussie made these days. :cheer:
The racks should be pretty well bullet proof now and good on the guys for improving the racks so quickly.

November 30, 2011 at 8:17 am #212401Thanks lads.
It is great to get feedback on various items before going and handing over the folding stuff.
Cheers, AngusNovember 30, 2011 at 8:21 am #212402While we are at it, I notice you guys have both moved your number plates up and cut the rest off.
Either tried at all to worry about numberplate lighting or just not bothered?Sorry about all the questions….
PS, I have suspension questions coming up soon……November 30, 2011 at 8:58 am #212403ttrgus wrote:While we are at it, I notice you guys have both moved your number plates up and cut the rest off.

Was ready to snap off hanging down there I reckon
Suspension well its Tekniks all the way. They will either mod you standard which works great real good I was so happy with mine and I know Nick is with his. Dr Nick at Tekniks has built a custom shock for mine, sort of a trial shock. He is trying out different things creating a custom shock to give people more choices locally at a better price. I have to say the stage one I have is awesome and am awaiting the new shaft giving it even more adjustments even though i havent adjusted a clicker since he built it. I must say I would have stayed with my standard modified shock and been as happy it was only the offer to test this custom shock came along. (right place right time) reckon the standard is real good when Tekniks have worked their magic. You also get a discount there being an Old Bull

November 30, 2011 at 10:01 am #212406Thanks T Boss,
I have been giving the “search” function a real workout today and found a heap of good stuff re suspension etc (did I mention how busy work is today….
)
Teknik looks the way to go. It is only the shock that really annoys me on the 660 so I might just start with that. Wheels are currently off getting new round rims so I should rip the shock out and get it done now. Need to get off work and start swinging some spanners…..
Thanks again,
AngusNovember 30, 2011 at 10:27 am #212407Shock is a bit of a pain to get out. Top bolt is hidden by the middle exhaust section and to get it out of the way you need to remove the mufflers and the headers on the cylinder head this leaves the middle section able to be moved around and swung up to gain access to the top bolt (note cant get the middle out just swung out of the way) You will need some fairly good allen keys with the ball ends if you have them it helps. Top bolt access is easy now but if you have short fingers the nut and washer can be hard to hold. If you have a centre stand pop it up on the stand and just drop the dog bones off the linkage and bottom shock bolt out it comes. Use some never sieze on the header allen key nuts
