Mate Speedy has just finished his project 87 Model Husky 430 Auto into an 07 WR 250 Frame. He had to do substantial mods to the frame, pipe and tank to get it to work. He is taking it for a test run tomorrow 👿
Good work Mate
July 17, 2011 at 10:42 pm #205043Awesome work, looks the goods. I rode with a bloke up Sunny Corner about 10 years ago who had a Husky 430 auto, was a quick bike. The motor in a modern chassis will be even quicker.
July 17, 2011 at 11:36 pm #205052Looks interesting Ollie.
Why would he do that?
Cause he can? Which is cool as a project.
Is the 430 motor better than a 300 with a big bore kit?
Love the look of the pipe. Is it custom made?
How does the auto work?
So many questions. 😆
July 17, 2011 at 11:44 pm #205055I have a question. Wasn’t the 07 frame alloy?

July 17, 2011 at 11:52 pm #205044Hi I’m Speedy & I was going to keep my Nauto (Newauto) under wraps until I finished getting the bugs out & present it with a fresh set of plastic’s, a powder coated frame & a really good clean up but some people just can’t keep it too themselves can they OLLIE.
For those out there I’m not an engineer just too much time in the shed with plenty of beer so give it a go & make your own war horse.
Those of you with a keen eye will notice a fair few frame & swing arm mods had to be done to allow the engine to sit properly acording to where the chain runs & where the exhaust port is located(exhaust port on the 88 is much higher than 07 250 wr & that the 88 engine is longer than the 250), once the engine was in place working the Left side kick start out was the next problem & that had a few clearance issuse’s.
One of the real pains was having to make an intake manifold as the 88 model airfilter is located on the right handside, so the intake had to be made to come in from the left for the 07 airbox & there was alot of cutting adjusting & readjusting to get the right angle for the carby to sit properly.(dont have too many beers while doing this as you will have to do it again sober)
Then the radiators needed to be relocated & all the plumbing sorted (hoping it don’t run hot).
Then came the fun of trying to find some one who can build an expansion chamber & muffler to the proper specs & not just to bodge it together, Once I fround the right bloke I just had to send him the bike (Broadford) & wait & wait & wait some more as he is really good at what he does but it is at his pace, I cant complain though as the job is exactly what I wanted & his price was on par with buying off the self Pro circuit stuff (which I still would have had to modify).
Now after a few time consuming niggly’s that have reared their head I’m hoping to go testing 2moro.
I’m hoping all goes well & that Rec rego comes in as i’m not sure how it would go getting through rego even though both bike’s came with ADR & where previously rego’ed (frame & donor engine).
P.S. I had a big reminder this arvo about respect & half kicking a big bore 2stroke, dont do it as it’s painful !!!July 17, 2011 at 11:54 pm #205056King STM wrote:I have a question. Wasn’t the 07 frame alloy?STM
It’s a Husky WR 2 stroke frame mate. It’s easy to get confused with two WR models from different brands.
Bit like the first time I seen your bike. Thought you’d got a KX250F registered somehow.
July 17, 2011 at 11:54 pm #205057Husky frame’s are still chrome moly steel

July 18, 2011 at 12:55 am #205063You’ll want a fancy pipe guard on it I would say. Would want to go through that again after flattening it.
I think custom builds like this are a great idea. Well done.July 18, 2011 at 1:13 am #205065Not sure if I can fit a pipe gaurd as the clearance from the pipe to front wheel is really close,
But old mate the pipe builer said he’d build me another one……………… for the same price!
That’s what the testing will show up I guess.July 18, 2011 at 1:15 am #205066Well done Speedy!
I am looking forward to your first ride report.STM

Nah I’ll just leave him and his bike at the bottom of the hill instead of riding it up for him like last time & not let him ride my Nauto!!!!!
