Northern Rivers ADV ride solo Pre run !

Last night my wife told me she was going out with a friend this afternoon and taking the kids. Of course I was gutted ……. Yeah right !!!!

I loaded up Basecamp on the computer and started to plot an off road track from my house to Drake which is around 200km. The idea was to Pre run this part of the ride ready for the 3 day north coast ADV ride in 4 weeks time. 
This morning I loaded up the Tenere with a few spares and turned on the spot tracker. 

The first 10 km were on the highway but on the actual ride I already know a trail to avoid this if it’s not too wet. I turned off the highway and straight onto a good fire road running through Glencoe Forest , 

the road was in good condition and soon took me to Wyporie

I left Wyporie and was straight in to more dirt to Rappville 

This is when things got interesting the track I had plotted had a turn off which was blocked by a locked gate , I decided to keep going straight on and soon enough my Go Cruise gps picked up the track and said I could get through this way. 

The road deteriated and had heaps of water crossings , 

The locals seemed friendly though, check out the shot up sign !!

I then came across a gate with no lock but the gps said road ahead 

So I went through the gate and kept going , the track turned to trail then disappeared , I could pick a rough track out and used the gps to give me direction, after 20 minutes I came out near a house with a gate and I got a wave from the owner so I must have been on the right track !! 

I had then got to the range and everything from now on was up for a while , the twin track wound it’s way up the range and was top fun.

Once up on the tablelands it flattened out and things sped up !

Their was plenty of these reminders to not go too quick and keep an look out !

I got to Tabulam on dirt the whole way !!! 

From here I knew the dirt trails to Drake and they are too good to change so I hit the tar to get home before dark. 
I made good time and decided to get into some trails I ride on my single track bike.

I covered 310km today so no need to refuel. 
All in all I had a top day and managed to make the first 200km of our upcoming adventure ride a potential success!! After that we have a rough plan but that’s the adventure hey !!!
