Went for a ride this avo after work,no big deal, get a bit of sadle time in.Had a look in some tracks that I had past but never botherd with.
Hooting along a a bit of a single track, slimy wet section, but not too wet, with long grass on each side, anyway must have got it wrong,I lost the ass end hitting good revs in 3rd,,heading for some trees,,shit not the trees, dodged them and went down pretty hard in the grass, witch has lots of dead wood under it,I landed on the track but the bike was laying in the grass screeming it’s head off, back weel spining on a log making heeps of smoke.
I jumped up quick and hit the kill switch, but straight away seen fire rite under the back sprocket spreding fast in the grass,,,SHIT! and I can smell fuel as well,,,grabed the bars and pulled hard but the bike was hook on some dead wood so I some how riped it out of there,Fark now the grass is alight, managed to stomp that out. This all happend in about 10 seconds I recon.
I’v never had fire before, lucky the fuel must have been away from the flams, or I think that I would have had Buckly’s of puting it out, the old RMX smoker would have gone up in smoke for sure.
cheers teza.August 10, 2011 at 8:51 pm #206790You might need to start carrying a fire extinguisher with you Teza

August 10, 2011 at 9:15 pm #206791There are pictures of a very black melted 2012 Berg 390 (On DBW), from a recent berg ride day, which suffered a quick demise at the hands of one of the guys taking it for a test.
August 10, 2011 at 9:16 pm #206792Could have ended like this Husaberg 450
Looks like a someone starting a bomb fire but apparently a Berg is the cause of that smoke. Crashed in grass and stared grass fire.
The end result, BBQ Berg.
Lucky Teza the RMX didn’t end up charcoal.

August 11, 2011 at 9:25 am #206796Hi Teza,
Good to hear that you’re getting out on the bike … that shoulder must be coming good… but adding a fire dance to your ride is ‘out there’. Glad to hear the bike survived and your tap dancing did the job. Just think another skill developed today…

August 11, 2011 at 9:59 am #206819Yeah it does sound a bit like something that would happen to me…
Glad it all panned out for the better Tez.
August 11, 2011 at 9:30 pm #206797Yeh! like I said ,never had fire before, and it wasn’t even that dry,,,but it started pretty eazy ,n the RMX dosn’t run hot at all, maybe a spark from the exhaust or somthing,it was reving pretty hard, but like a few of you have mentioned,,,summer,,,dry bush,,,grass, could eazy winde up like that Berg that Scotty put pics off. So what do we do in that case????Squirt it with yu camel back, then get the f#*k out of the way.
It’s just that I’v never thought of bikes as a fire risk.
Cheers Teza.August 11, 2011 at 10:12 pm #206798Teza

Cheers Teza.Piss on it. For KTM riders there doesn’t need to be flames to take such action with your bikes.
