Well we just got back from a top ride out the back of my place , after over 2 inches of rain yesterday I knew it would be muddy but what we got was a Bogfest !!!
The riders were Rob400 , Dupsyam4 , phelix and myself and we were all ready to ride by 1.00. The singletrack I have leaving my place had Rob laying it down and DY4 (spud) whooping at the top of the hill. We rode across the ridgeline and dropped down into the gullies , and then the fun started !!!
We came to a small drain that is normally a trickle , it was at least a foot deep !! The next section is normally a muddy rutted section to navigate but it was now a lake. Spud went left and Phelix went right. After seeing Phelix’s Wr450 go seat deep I went with spuds option and we all got through ok.
The next challenge was a bridge that had completely washed away so we made a new single track around it an Rob found a good spot to re-enter the trail. The bogs came thick and fast with plenty of moments on the slick clay.
Once we got over to the second section of this ride I decided to see if Spud was up for riding it in reverse. I have only done it once and their is a top singletrack that I have never ridden in that direction and none of it disappointed , creeks , bogs logs and fast sections kept coming and everyone was grinning ear to ear at the end. !
The ride home went quickly and spud and I shared the lead with Phelix and Rob close behind. I was following spud along a section I know very well and for some reason came into a 90 degree corner in 4th gear , their is a huge bog on the inside and I cross rutted and ended up in the middle of it much to Rob and Phelix’s delight as the laugh ( a bit too much
) at me laying in the swamp water.
The last section I led and we turned it up a bit , it’s a good fast twin track that leads onto my place where we take a couple of singles and a rocky downhill to my shed.
Beers where drank as bikes were loaded and we laughed at a ride full of big moments, front end wash outs and two wheel drifts on the slick trails !!
For a ride that didn’t look like it was going to happen yesterday due to torrential rain I had an absolute ball.
Thanks to Spud for leading a lot of the sections and Phelix and Rob for making the effort to come and get muddy !!!
Google cam footage to come !!

August 28, 2011 at 12:29 am #207725Nice one mate.
I went for a solo ride and it was super slick!!! I took the Spot Tracker and the X-Guider and went in search of new trails. I ventured further south of where I have before and found two good singles. I rode those and headed back to familar terrirtory and on the way home I turned down an intersection off a trail that I have not noticed before but have ridden past regularly. It was only a faint scratching of trail at the top but as I got into it turned to gold. I had no idea where it would end but as soon as it hit he next fireroad I knew exactly where I was and it will add a cool loop to a section we are already using. Even cooler is one line that is super steep and a creek crossing that is an oasis.
I can’t believe how this one forest keeps handing over such gems and it has inspired me to continue my search.STM

Cheers Mal
As this was the second time I’d filmed with the goggles I was more conscious of them and tried to look further ahead. I think once the foam wedge they are sending to make the angle adjustable it will be spot on !!
