    Hi Guys,

Been looking at some of the discussion re the upgrades we do for the Tenere rear shock versus the Ohlins option. We have been working on a custom built shock for a few years now but are not ready for production. In the next few weeks I’ll put a prototype together for TB’s bike.

If any of you do want to go with the Ohlins shock (YA817) we can supply them for $1115. We can also supply a Yacugar that is a rebound adjustable only, non piggyback, emulsion for $699 for Old Bull members, normally $799. Both shocks use a 46mm bore (shock is 40mm) , both are made in Europe. We can swap springs to the Ohlins for $50 extra, no charge for Yacugar.

In comparison our re-valve of the stock 40mm Sachs is $247 plus a seal if needed and a spring in a choice of rates from 7kg to 10.5kg (TB special) at $198. We also use a WP piston band ($80) to stop the blow by of the stock band. All up it’s typically $480 with the 10% discount. Then unlike the “off the shelf” options we use different valving to suit what the bike is used for and we have a choice of 8 different spring rates so we get it right for you. 12 Month warranty too.

Great work Nick, I have posted that on a thread on ADV that has a fair bit of suspension chat for the Tenere

    Thanks Nick

I have only just picked my Tenere up, and have only had a few rides, so am yet to find the limits of the suspension, but am aware due to the internet of the imminent need to upgrade it. The revalved and resprung standard looks like the go. TB also raves about your Fork work. What would I be looking at for front and rear valving upgrades and resprung to my specifications?

    Cheers
    Matt

    Hey Matt,
The shock is $480 and the forks get our V4s valves ($175) springs ($198) and fitting ($165 and oil $35) for a total of $573. Add the two up and apply the 10% discount to you guys and you get $957. Prices are assuming we get just a fork and a shock. No seals or other consumables are included as it’s a new or near new bike. TB just completed the longevity test on the stock rear shock seal. 30 000km. Not bad.

    Hi Teknik,
Do you have any good ideas for getting the suspension to and from you guys?
I may as well do the front and back of my 660 at the same time.
I have 2 mates here with Ohlins but I think I will just go with your magic mods.

    Thanks

    Angus,

We use Toll road most of the time for suspension, where are you? we can have it picked up if it’s easier for you.

    Hi Technik,
I am in Boonah in QLD, which is about an hour out of Brisbane. We do have Toll couriers come to work here so it can be done.
I might try to get a quote.
I have a mate who did his own forks with your valves but had to get some spacers made apparently.
Do you sell a kit? Just to save freighting forks.
I will want you guys to do the shock so if the freight is not prohibitive, then I may as well just get you to do the whole lot.
    Thanks for your help,
    Angus
