We knew we would setting up camp under torch light or very close to sunset.. Specially only leaving at 5.00 Friday arvo. From Hydraulink Morisset.
Starters Mickp, Lotsa Wayne, Tryhard Joe & GavbWe wanted to put a few rides together and join them up for a 3 day jaunt. Crawney Pass, Barrys Rd, Tomala Rd, Titaatee Crk Rd and of course the Albino Rd to Start with was the short list.
Hitting the dirt At Elrington Lower Hunter National Park we skipped through Abermain and through Werakata Nat Park keeping to as many dirt roads & tracks as possible, Crossing Elderslie bridge we then detoured through Blind ck Rd Hamiltons crossing and Starvation lane which is getting quite rutted and bottomed the suspension out a few times. Now lets get serious about getting to camp.
Goorangoola is one of the nicest places to ride any time of the day, Mickp sunset-
It was then onto the Albino Rd Right onto the Upper Rouchel Rd along the Brook
Camp was set towards the end of the rd in the perfect spot.
Flight of the Tortilla Stack. Yes these ones were that bad.
Next Morning it was off to Stuarts Brook over the hill and the start of many creek crossings for the day
Up & Over. This was the top of one steep pinch. Wayne doin it easy.
Mick
Moisture content was perfect
Mick & The vast unknown
Mountain man Joe Mounting his Mount
We took on a few down hills that started the heart & thank the gods of bottomless tracks, we made it out without having to back track at all.
This section was deeper than it looked
Without further a doo we hauled up the Crawney pass, where the clouds closed in and we got a brief shower. Then on to hot sunny conditions for Lunch a Nundle
Lunch at Nundle rated a 3/10 but looked spectacular
Hanging Rock
The Amigos
Barrys Rd
Barrys Bike Wash – Gav –
The Chimney Savers did very well on this one.
Then there was Joe ….standing on the last crossing. Jacket & Helmet off..
… I think to my self, If I get enough speed up I will be able to splash him….then there was the thought ……Why is he stopped???
I washed off speed just in time to see the marks on the crossing
NOTE. Listen to Mick . Slippery ?
Would have been spectacular to watch. Notice the RH pannier scrape is on the Left of the tyre mark. Yep thats Joe trying to reverse the KTM, through the crossing then upside down in the dirt.
Ellerston Golf links
Mick and myself waited at the Tomalla Rd turn to Cross the Range while Wayne got a bit excited and took Joe on a mistery tour. They were back before long and we climed up Tomalla and across the range along Carters Rd & Curricabark to Woko. This you need to note down as a definite one to do. With great scenery and roads and good dirt all the way.
And we even ran into Marks old Mate
Stopped and played with this. He was pretty quick basking in the afternoon sun. Told Joe after dinner that I kept him, whilst throwing a fuel hose in his lap. Perfect response……. of panic….
Had a look at Woko camp area which is a very nice spot but we ended up staying at the old farm. This place is a gem. Thanks Mick.
Beer & Bath Time. Joe & Gav –
Even the bikes were snug
Sunday Morn we were off home via Glouster for Breakfast. A short run on the tar to the Titaatee Creek Rd. The plan was to run down to Bunya Manning Hill Rd, up Waukivory Rd to The Glen and go through this time without any precipitation. Then find Mill Creek Rd through the nature reserve to Stroud.
By the end of Tipperary Rd there was oil streaming out of the mighty DRs Counter shaft seal so much that Joe that was riding behind had oil on him. No worries. Wayne had a spare one, yes, and with that installed we were on the road again. Not without the usual banter and good spirits.
The Glen

Great pics, good story and funny times (especially the snake gag) 😆On our return from Nundle the other week, I was in awe of the surroundings up there and plan to get back there for a few days to see it at leisure a bit
November 15, 2011 at 9:13 pm #211863Great RR GavB
We had a break Friday evening where GavB pointed out the direction we were heading
First night camp on arrival
Someone stole my mankini from the hills hoist so no swim for me that night even though the water temp was good.
Around about Rouchel

Tryhard after Crawley Pass
I love a road into the mountains
I put on all my wet weather gear so we didn’t get rained on…….it worked.

I have seen EAGLE HILL on the maps, its very close to the hill we climbed from Old mates caravan into the storm on Carters Trail I thinkNovember 16, 2011 at 10:15 am #211875Eagle, yes this is not far from there. We did the same road backwards to you, also found and road up your hill. I would say its a little easier without the rain.
