My young bloke, Riley who is 12yrs old and has a KTM 85SX would like to join a Dirtbike Club this year as his main form of sport. We live in the Blue mountains area west of Sydney and I was wondering if any one had any experience with any of the clubs around the area that they would be able to recommend, or any contact details.

    Thanks,

    Lefty ;)

I went down and signed up my young bloke, Riley last weekend at Penrith PCYC Minibike Club and today was the 1st outing. It was only a grading day but the organisers and competitors were all really friendly and great to be a part of. I volunteered to be a marshall and it was great to help out with the kids and be part of the action. The activites that they get the kids to do are very good for there skills and I am sure they all improve with practice.
Riley has never raced before and he was looking forward to the Motocross section as were all the kids. The way it works is there is a maximum of 4 starters per race and they have 3 heats each. Points are awarded to each competitor depending on their position. After the heats are run and if the points are equal there is a sudden death run off for 1st and 2nd over 2laps followed by another run-off for 3rd and 4th.
I was pretty chuffed when Riley won the 1st heat, especially when he stalled it off the line and was last into the 1st corner  I think he was a little angry because he was in the lead half way through the 1st lap.
To cut a long story short 3 heats, 3 wins then followed by a final run-off 4 starts, 4 wins :woohoo: you could say that I was one proud dad!! We had better stop now and not ruin the perfect record   there is only one place to go from here. :silly:
Well we had a great day and here are some pics
