Well, back in December when I last rode the bike (yep, I am that tragic) I found a new area to ride and had arrived home from that ride to use Google and find out what else was about for future exploration.
Well today dawned sunny and I decided that it was as good a day as any to head out and see what was about, or whether I could even find my way around, although I did fully expect to find the mud.
The small side track in was a little worse for wear today compared to last time
But the DR still looked ahead with enthusiasm.
So from here it was left, right and a little of this way and that before I decided to follow one of the tracks I had seen on Google just to see where it went and what was around, and yes it was a little wet to start with a puddle that was deeper than I thought
And just the usual warning with my videos that the audio is poor and is full wind noise so you may want to turn the volume down.
Video 1 – starts with a small puddle.
The track was great fun, although I was simply slow given I had never ridden it and had no idea of where it went, or how slippery it was to be and whilst it was generally good in terms of grip there was always a rut here, or mud there to make sure you stayed alert.
The track itself meandered along with lots of sidetracks that will have to wait for another day as I wanted to stay on what appeared to be the ‘main’ track but before long I came across more track wide pools of water. Some of these pools were larger and deeper than the first one in the video (above) so I decided that being alone discretion would rule and I would turn back, but remember these for future.
Of course, what goes down, must come up (this video is split into 2 parts – both short)
There were a few nice spots to stop along the way.
And enjoy the view.
But the mighty pig tried to act all shy and hide behind the tree.
From here it was back to the small sealed surface before heading to the other track that was on the list to look into and this did not disappoint having a lot of open flowing and faster sections, together with some tighter for technical sections before finding a little causeway stuck in the middle of nowhere where I found yet more tracks, again to be saved for another day.
The causeway is that way
And this track looked interesting as well, and is in the memory bank for another day.
From here it was a lot of ‘follow this track’ and ‘hey look another track’ before making my way back to the main road into this little place and starting on home
A few of the tracks that were explored.
And of course, there was one last track back to the starting point.
All up it was a nice fruitful day, thoroughly enjoyed and giving plenty more room for exploration which hopefully I should get to another time provided that gates don’t magically appear or the land itself get sold off.
But man, it has been too long and I am sore
