After my first real taste of pine forest singles at Neville Im interested to know were the nearest one to Coffs is.
Are there any on the coast at all ?
Are there any around Grafton, Port or Armidale ?February 16, 2012 at 4:49 pm #216321Pine forests are great to ride in. When wet the roots make things interesting. You sound super keen for a repeat it seems….
In 09 i rode some pine plantation somewhere up that way. Near a really nice national park camping area on that river Namboi… Something.February 16, 2012 at 6:04 pm #216329axel wrote:Pine forests are great to ride in. February 16, 2012 at 6:15 pm #216334Probably a bit far mate but Nundle has some great pine forests and the right crew to show you around. Noosa has some epic ones but it feels weird riding pines in that sort of humidity. Pines are best enjoyed cold and dark :woohoo:

We ride throught that way quite often.
I havn’t really noticed any Pine Forests (not really looking for them ) but if you are after hills there are plenty of them.
Through that way there are a fair few planted hardwood plantations.
I will take more notice next time we pass through.February 16, 2012 at 7:09 pm #216338There are a great selection of single track in a pine forest in Wombat down here in vic,if you ever make it down here i will show you
February 16, 2012 at 9:48 pm #216339theres some nice ones at orange if i could only remember how to find them
February 18, 2012 at 6:09 pm #216322Ev,
I used to ride that area frequently, there was (think it may have been logged) a pine plantation just off Mills Road.
We rode through the area on Thursday, but didn’t go via that track, next time I’m up that way I’ll check it out for you.
Here’s where it is/was… Head to Bostobrick, turn right on Moonpar Road, turn left on Mills Road then it’s either the first or second on your left, think it’s Blicks River Road, but could be mistaken. I know it by sight, not by name.
Easy to find though, just as the ground surface starts to change, goes to that hard packed clay, your looking for a track on the left hand side which has an open grassy area at it… Will make sense when your there lol.
The track your after heads towards Blicks River (nice river crossing) Just after you turn off Mills Road there is a long straight which ran through a pine plantation, there was a couple of singles which ran through it on the right hand side as well… Please note, this is going back around 5-6 years & I haven’t been there since, think it might have been logged? :dry:Mobong Falls is worth a look if your ever up that way & haven’t been there already
Top riding all through Cascade & Moonpar, used to ride some nice singles that ran from Cascade to near The Cod Hole.
Nice singles around Brooklana/Bobo area as well.Paul.

February 19, 2012 at 1:26 am #216323No worries, your welcome.
The camping area Axel mentioned is called Platypus Flat, The Cod Hole is another one.
They’ve both been badly damaged due to recent floods & will need a lil time to bounce back.
Platypus Flat has an undercover area with gas BBQ’s now, would be an awesome spot for lunch if one was to organize a ride through there. Was just starting to get to know my way around the area, then stopped riding for a while.
Keen to start going back there though & hopefully pick up where I left off.A friend of mine just introduced me to one of his mates who grew up in Dorrigo & is into bikes, I’m keen to pick his brain for some local knowledge & hopefully go riding with him soon as well
