And me all spent the weekend over at the cells, for the Boonys birthday bash ride.
On arrival at the hotel de`cells on saturday morning it was great to catch up with the lads again.
We rode 84 ks on the saturday ride, these ks were on thrails that were in great condition.
I was a bit ginger about me knee and this was showing on the trails.

I think some of the boys took some picccies and hopefully they will post them up.

I will do a better ride report later on.

thanks gent for a pearler of a weekend on the trails.

Polly and Dude have all the photos so I’ll just fill in the bits between seeming Boony didnt turnup until the second day.

Friday, Polly, Damo, Damus and I did around 60km of hunting new trails and doing clearing runs on some others. Found even more sweet singles, the Cells never disapoints in revealing never ending singles of the highest quality. Added a couple of sweet bits we can use in our loops and revealed a great hill and a seperate single that indicate theres even more that we need to find and link up. Arived back at camp at 3.30 to find the Dude had just arrived in his usual impeccable timing. While sitting around the fire bench racing we hear a roar like an F111 which turns out to be Murph the Surf punching though the night to join us around the fire.

Saturday, We are all up ready to ride as Boony and Matt were to be at camp by 830. We sent out the super sweep Damus who found them parked 15 km up the road, apparently Matt was spewing his guts up as after 200 km of listening to Boony crap on about his KTM and it was just to much to stomach. They finally made camp at 9 and we were shortly on the way. The day was one of the best I have had on the bike, 8 blokes who kept up a great pace with no real hold ups apart from Boony who spent 20 mins trying to convince a gum tree to buy a Ktm 250. Brilliant day of around 90km of nearly all singles as well as a late run in the semi darkness to show Murph the longest slippery hill most of us know, not Murphsberg material but at least we made him work hard to get up there (Boony softcocked the hill and went to the camp as apparently he didnt think the KTM would get up it although the DRZ, Murph and Damo on the Kwaka all got up. Highlight of the day had to be when we let a group of young blokes ride first through a single track that we wanted to use. A heap of these young blokes got stuck but all the Old Bulls got up without drama. Saturday night the bench racing was epic despite the loss of Murph who had to get home to catch some Catherine Hill bay left handers. A throw away comment about a gay cowboy movie saw Damo slagged off all night as he dug an ever deeper hole trying to get away from his first comment.

Sunday, I handed the lead over to Boony and straight away the trail ride turned into an adventure ride as we tried to find a mysterious trail that could link our cells loops to the Nundle hills of gold. As the mystery “singles” turned out to be forrest roads the plan was soon dumped and we headed back into the singles for a great run back towards camp. Damo’s first run as leader turned to shit and he was sacked to sweep and we got to swim our way up a trail that the 4wd’s had turned into bog holes before heading for the infamous Kokoda trail. On the way Boony tried to asert his KT’os drag racing ability against the DRZ only to meet the only Jeep in the forrest as he vainly tied to catch the DRZ. After some time in a table drain with dirty trousers he caught up and we introduced Dude to Kokoda. He didnt seem to fall in love with rocketing through a trail slightly larger than a motorbike and not as tall as a crouching rider while endless vines and branches tried to rip him from the bike. The love bite from a vine he met was his take home souvenir.

All up a brilliant weekend with some top blokes (and Boony was there too).

Sounds like the usual fun boyz, can’t wait for the photos :woohoo:

Pity I missed it, however I now have maximum brownie points so bring on the next one

Did you have any rain? The boss and I drove from Nundle via the Berry Patch to Gloucester on Saturday and had rain the whole way

At least there was no dust, and I couldn’t stop that silly yellow light on the dash from flashing

I always tell the truth. Rode the KTM but the DRZ is still in the shed tonight, and as for the drag as far as I see it I was still riding when the jeep went past not lying in the table drain wondering how to get that mess off the bike seat!

This ride started for me on Friday night when I was around at Matts loading the tartus for the trip to cells, you beaut a hangover to start the trip with, yay one day I`ll learn.
    Saturday
We left here at 6.30 and made it to the road into our camp site about 2 hours later only to find Damus belting along the road on the trusty TTR 250. I thought here we go , snowys running around the camp naked again and Damus has done a runner.
We finally made it to camp where we slow rounded the corner making sure snow was fully dressed, he was so all was good. :pinch: :pinch:
We said gdays, suited up and hit the trails. I lead the first part of the morning ride and then Snowflake took over, we have agreed that leading all day does nothing but totally root yah for the rest of the weekend, so now we are sharing the role and also making some of the other regulars lead some parts of the rides. ;)
Anyway snowy took lead and we road some more excellent trails. :) We pushed along at a reasonable pace and I took the chicken run on 2 of the sweet singles in the morning due to a small injury I was battling with.
I joined in on the singles after adjusting my makeup and the day just got better and better after that moment. :cheer:
God the trails out there are second to none. We had a few cells virgins on the ride and they seemed to enjoy the day.
We made it to our fuel stash and then had a break for a while, We always have a rolling race from the refuel spot and I must say that Dude is the only one I have actually seem bin it in a rolling race,, saying that I did run off the road but kept it upright. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
I took lead again and found a trail that must be used by the forestry’s to breed erosion mounds, this trail had a katrillion mounds and the buggers were steep .
We got to the end of this trail and then we pushed Polly to the lead position for the next single trail. He done an alright job at too. ;)
Snow took the lead after this and led us into more awesome trails. I led a trail or 2 back towards camp,as did snow and Damien even had a lead and didn’t lose anyone (this time).
Some of us opted to head for the eskies and the hardcore ones took on rattle hill (named due to the reason this is where Bolls bike sounded yuk on the last trip).
They came to their senses and returned to the eskies as well. 😆 😆 😆
Murph packed up and bolted and you could hear his screaming,” you Tamworth blokes are too hard core for me” :side: :side: as he was heading out of camp to go and do some work on his van for his trip.
I have been involved in the odd ring of knowledge however the ring on Saturday night was one to be remembered, it was hilarious.

    Sunday to come.

Big thanks for the invite, boys.
Must admitt I was a little concerned about the grading of this ride but once there it was all great fun.
Some really sweet trails and even a few challenging hills thrown in. 👿 :woohoo:
The road up from Wauhope is a doosey. Never seen so many consecutive 25 and 35km corners. The dirt road into the campsite was long especially at 9:30 at night. Once I woke in the morning I was impressed with the campsite which backed onto a beautiful little river. The leeches were thick though and at times it looked like the whole ground was moving.
Great bunch of fellas, thanks to the leaders and to our sweep man, Damos.
I might have some pics on the camera, I haven’t checked yet.
Sorry that I left Saturday night but at least I got a fair bit of work done on the van Sunday so we are a that little bit closer to being ready for our trip West.
    Cheers
    Murph
P.S. Thanks for the pit toilet initiaton. ;)
