Well a top day was had by nearly all
Good to meet a couple more Bulls (Hesso and Cramusic)
Sunny skies but maybe a tad dusty on the open stuff which didn’t matter as there was not much of that
A certain 300 would not start so we changed the plug and all was good. (thanks to our super sweep, Dude for getting the cap back on the plug) :woohoo:
Rode out to the usual intersection and started the long and winding eray of singles to the Basin
I haven’t ridden here in about 12 months and unfortunately some of the singles are getting badly rutted, only to be expected I guess. On reaching the Basin Tim took over the lead and it was into some snotty rocky hills for a bit of fun. 👿 :woohoo:
It was here we came accross another group and noticed that one of the blokes was riding a CR500. He was looking a bit ragged and they said they had only done about 7kms.
Not much further along our leader Tim had a big off. He was OK but he did manage to put a bend in a radiator and somehow break a foot peg. He soldiered on with half a foot peg much to his credit. B)
Just before doing a gnarly uphill rocky spur Holeshot noticed he was loosing a lot of oil (the black stuff was everywhere) So he had to pull the pin and ride back to cars. Luckily Holeshot knows the Watto’s well and he headed off solo. Hope the damage is not too bad mate!!! Let us know if you don’t mind. :(

I took over the lead for a while and we rode some very snotty singles around to the Koala trail where CJ took the lead and lunch was had in the cool rainforest at the creek. The rocky climb out was very slippery and we heard a yelp from our leader as he lost traction and direction and crashed into a huge rocky rut. (thanks CJ, we all had a bit of a giggle) I think Hesso said that karma caught him and he did much the same thing. Swapped leads back to me and we rode more single around to Bar hill. This proved to be an obsticle for some and I think Thrillseeker, Hesso and Cramusic had several goes before getting it. The slings did come out for a couple.
Tim and CJ had ridden to the top of this hill the week before so instead of turning left and taking the easy way we all rode up to meet the next challenge. 👿 :woohoo: Tim rode up and nailed it which impressed me knowing he only had half a foot peg. CJ was next but he took a slightly different line and got caught so I had a go and followed Tims line and made it up. CJ was next then Thrillseeker followed by Hesso who got caught at the step and needed a little assistance to get over. Justo’s mountain biking skills proved themselves and he smoked the step and steep rock slab. :woohoo: Dude and Cramusic rode back down and took the easier option and we were meant to meet at the next junction, which never happened. ;) (note to self, draw a map when giving directions to the Dude)
Tim then lead us down a gnarly hill back to the track where Dude should of been and that where we said our farewells to Hesso, who was out of water and suffering from cramps. On waiting for ten minutes or so the 5 of of us rode on down a long steep track to bottom of the valley. A little bit of dirt road had us turning right into some more challenging stuff. 👿

Tim again took the lead and we headed for more rocks. :woohoo: Watching Tim try and clean the very gnarly steps/cliff had the rest of us opting for the slightly easier LH single but even to get to that took some bashing. I looked back to check on Justo who was sweeping only to see him fall twice. Sorry no pics as I had my own task of getting to the top. I hope CJ got some good footage of Tims five attempts at the higher ledges. A small rest was in order before riding the rest of the hill where I managed to ride the 500 up another huge step and we gathered at the top.
Thrillseeker had been on reserve from the bottom of the hill and sun was getting down a bit so we decided to call it and headed back to the cars.
Dude and Cramusic were there and told us they had also ridden down to the valley floor but must of missed us when we turned right to come up Wave Rock.
Thanks to all for coming out to play
Thankyou Dude for sweeping nearly the whole day.
Hope that DRZ is OK Holeshot??
Hope to have some pics to come
    Cheers

    Cool temps.

A little dusty at times but damp in the gullies.

Getting to be a rockfest out there but luckily the rocks were dry so traction was good.

big day with about 80kms? of riding.

Didn’t have the help the crew out really cause they were all good riders.

    I enjoyed the day.

    Thanks to all.

Awesome reports and great pics. :)
    Another great ride :woohoo:

There’s not much more that i can add to these other than, no real damage to the olgirl. Looks like i picked up some wire that wrapped aroung the primary drive and am guessing without taking the gear off that it’s probably caught the seal.
Have to admit that was the most singles I have rode in one dayand i only done little over half the ride  Loved doing it and looking forward to the next ones.
Props to Murph for organizing and leading
Tim and CJ leading, Dude sweeping and the rest of the old bulls and some not so old  particularly for getting the Dr out of the bog hole and onto the concrete path thru hell!!!

Should have some footage to come
    Cheers HS

Another top day out with the guys.

Fantastic day with a great bunch of guys.

Thanks to Murph, Tim and CJ for leading, Dude for sweeping and those that gave me the odd push / pull.

That was an epic amount of single track combined with some pretty gnarly hills, like Holeshot, more than I’ve done in one ride. I’d managed to get through all 3 litres of water by the time we got to lunch and that last hill (bar?) pretty much finished me off.

After chuckling at CJ in the rut after lunch it took me six attempts to get up that miserable slab of rock. Karma hurts…

Cramping up all the way home to Newcastle but can’t wait to do it again. :)

    Cheers. Hesso.
