Well after years of riding from scratch i always stuck my leg out in corners and power slides, just like every one did,but one day a long time ago, i had a nasty experiance with a ball teirer :S pulled my groin and inside leg,,much pain. :( Ever since then I have tended to keep my feet on the pegs in corners and slides, and got pretty comfertable with it, also I always though that it looked pretty cool when you see someone riping through a slide, tail out roost flying, feet fully on the pegs, also feels good to do.
    But after this.

This hapened at slow speed, about 15-20 klm’s,some slipery sand, and didn’t get my leg out, bike landed on it,,snape.
I couldn’t beleve it when I realised that it was broken, normaly I’d just get up and ride on,It just hapened realy fast.
Now I think that I would rather have the groin injery,,but I dont know.
Bye the way,I asked the surgon what he though of my bone strength, cose I thought, maybe I’m getin soft,But his reply was, you have verry stong bones, but when you drop a motor bike on em,they break.
    Well leg in or out????
    Cheers Teza.

Gee whiz, Tez, that looks nasty.
I am thinking leg out
How long you laid up for?
I know for some lesser people an accident like that would end their motor bike days….
Good luck with a speedy recovery.

    Cheers

Now I think about it I do a mix of both.
If it is any consolation that is a very clean break, well away from a joint and it looks like your surgeon did a good job.
    Solid hardware!!!

    Get well soon mate.

Can happen just as easily either way Teza

Sliding foot along the ground & heel or toe catches a rock or tree root etc & Bingo :pinch:

Just ride and do what feels most comfortable in the corner ,,,,,

I’m feet firmly on the pegs in the singles after toe punting a stump then a root on the same ride. Grass track and fire roads I like to stick a leg out when nessacery , this is the bloke to show you how though !! B)

Maybe if you had the leg out you could have saved the drop and so not broken a bone.

Coulda, shoulda, didn’t, did, tried, didn’t try who knows really. Sorry Tez, but mate ride a bike and shit happens. That’s why it is recognised as a DANGEROUS sport, I have been (because I am old  ) doing this shit for a long time seen a guy cartwheel thru a fence at Condo at 120km/h. I thought the dude was dead, bike hit him the whole smash, he got up ran after the bike to get it going  it’s didnt go again that weekend
Saw a bloke near Kulnura fall off turning around in first gear doing a U turn, fell over broke his leg badly and still today walks with a bad limp.
Seen a guy at a cross country stab his foot to save a front end slide and shatter his ankle so bad they fused it and it doesn’t bend anymore :(
Sorry it has happened I have had many breaks when I was younger, a shoulder reco two years ago, it’s still shit my shoulder but honestly it’s what happens and I am sure like you I would do it all again 20 times over

Feet up most of the time for me

    Get better mate

When I first got back into riding 5 or so years ago, I used to get yelled out by chicken and TB for putting my leg out, it was an old habit from motocross days, these days only leg out when necessary but generally try and keep feet on pegz all the time, pivot pegz are great for this and are available at http://www.dirtbikedeals.com.au ha ha shameless plug :P :P
