    Gday Rootas
On the week end i drove from Tamworth to the coast in a Thrifty rental truck to pick up some furniture for the folks ,as they have sold there house at Camnden Head :(
16 kms out of Gloucester i came acroos a bad crash.Must have just happened as i was the third vehicle to stop.
One big fat white Harley lying on one side of the road, rider lying on the other side of the road and the helmet 20m further up the road
With an awful feeling in my guts i got out of the truck to see what i could do.The female rider was concious but moaning in pain…not much give in a tar road :pinch: .
The first car, believe it or not was being driven by a doctor. She pretty much took control of the downed rider and kept her still and calm.I went back up the road to slow down cars comming around the corner as this was all being played out around a corner..bit of a blind spot.Next vehicle to come from the Gloucester side was a 4wd police car with 4 coppers in it on the way back to Armidale (that was lucky) .Eventually the Ambos turned up and gave the downed rider some assistance. She was a big woman and it took 8 of us to lift her into the back of the meat wagon  .Little bit of damage to her arm,but some serious pain to her back, but she will be O.K.
The lady was part of a group of about 12 riders, all on massive blinged up Harleys. She was at the rear of the group and must have had a lapse in judgment on this slightly twisted rise.Bugger all damage to the bike apart from a few rooted saddle bags and hardly even a skid mark  .The damage to her helmet was something to behold. The whole side of it was scraped off and the chin strap neatly done up.As for her group….they were still riding on their merry way…i was there for about 45 minutes and they still did not come back for her  …Great communication set up there in that group…NOT
End of the day,the helmet saved her life….but why was it 20 m away ?
    You know why.
She was a very lucky girl. And i hope she recovers and gets back on the bike soon ;)
Keep your chinstrap tight ladies and gentlemen.Your helmet could save your life, but you have to wear them properly. ;)

    Bol :woohoo:

Nice write up there King Bol, a good reminder of the need to not only wear, but wear correctly your safety gear.

Good work Bol. Was the helmet a full face or one of those open face units Harley riders like to wear?

The open face could have been the reason it came off. Even with a tight chin strap they can rotate forward on the head (a bit like your OB crown) and potentially come off.

You also mentioned she was a largish lady. Large enough that she doesn’t have a chin for the strap to fit under?
