So I am spending two weeks in Vic this Oct straight after Nundles Hills of Gold. Having a weekend (13th and 14th) in the rainy state made me think I should go riding somewhere. Now I have enjoyed some great riding in Vic thanks to Menace, and I have also ridden the high country the last two years so something different is needed. It didnt take long after listening to Amy and Kat tell Dejay and I that they have ridden the Hattah Desert and I havent, that I needed to tick that box.
A plan was hatched, I will trailer both the bikes down and Dejay will fly in on the friday arvo end of week one. We will trailer the bikes to Ouyen where we will stay overnight. In the morning we will retrace to route used by the APC crew and then spend the rest of the weekend exploring :woohoo: Sand sand and more sand! Not really sure what bikes we will be taking maybe the two KTMs, will need at least 200km fuel range, maybe the ADV bikes not sure. We will be back in Melbourne Sunday evening.
Anyone interested please feel free to chime in here for any details I have forgotten or throw your hand up.TB

(joke from the APC Finishline)I knew you wouldn`t be able to stay away from there for long ,,,
Better get some T Shirts made before Amy gets them for yaAugust 24, 2012 at 9:12 am #228373TB, there should be an ADV RR from when I went down there with Tryhard.
Remember not to ride through any farmers paddocks even if the GPS tells you to and the Hattah camping area is 40kph apparently. Wish I’d know that before roaring up behind the ranger vehicle.

That’s the good thing about posting ride reports

I don’t know if anyone on the APC experienced the “exploding water bushes” next to the track that we hit with the panniers and hand guards. I had to use a scourer to get that stuff off.
August 24, 2012 at 9:30 am #228376Cheers Lotsa I was going to revisit it I had remembered it. The tip on the camping ground is a winner thanks, as for the farmers paddock I wouldnt do that no matter what
unless I was stuck

Accommodation is sorted, Dejay has booked flights for his rock star style ride weekend. Preparation of both KTM’s will be finished this week. I will be running the 530 with a 12.5 litre front tank and a 10 litre rear tank.
Dejay will have a 15 litre front and a small loop with 4 x 1 litre bottles to give him 19 litres. We have a 220 kms between fill ups on the way to Renmark and a little further on the way back on SundayI will have my spot on as of early Saturday morning if anyone is interested in following us on our desert trek
I was hoping a Victorian or 2 would have joined us on the sandy desert ride
