Got a message from Lotsa on Friday wanting to know if I was keen for a ride on Sunday, he was meant to be heading to Orange for Bob’s ride but car trouble meant he couldn’t make it.
We met up Sunday morning at 8.30 along with Lotsa’s mate Jonathon who had only been riding dirt for a few months having ridden road bikes all his life.
The ride was a bit of an exploration run as Lotsa had not ridden the area for a few years and only rediscovered the area recently. There was a mix of trail types such as hard packed singles, rocky rutted sections, leafy new trails and moist clay sections. The pace was quite good and Joathon was keeping up quite nicely only really struggling on some of the more difficult sections. I had a bit of trouble on one hill that required a 3rd attempt to get up and one other smallish hill that had a couple of tree roots that your front and back wheels hit at the same time just near the top that caught me out, other than that I had a pretty much trouble free run.
It has been a while since I have ridden any technical or hilly sections (probably since the birthday ride) so the effort was starting to take it’s toll on me and Jono wanted to be home early afternoon as he had work to do so that suited me fine. We were back at the cars around 12.30 where we packed up and went our seperate ways which left plenty of time for afternoon beers.
All up only 59km for the 4 hours riding but good trails where you were always having to work except for a few transport sections.
Thanks Lotsa and Jono for the ride.

    Good one Jeffro

It was an interesting ride and got no where near the good single.

We dragged the bikes over some logs, found some dead ends, got muddy in bog holes, and when I go home I jumped on the DR650 and went for a spin through Ourimbah SF to Jerrys for a latte and baked New York cheese cake. I had my pinky out when I drank the latte. Culturrre

Who said you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Oh and came across an al qaeda squad doing some training. Investigating that one. Any coppers on the site interested pm me if you want.

    Al Qaeda Squad ???
Wouldn`t surprise me what goes on up there some weekends, let alone weekdays when it`s even quieter in some spots

Nowhere near as scary as Boon & Snow in the Hills of Gold though (and they blame the Bunyip) :P

Good little vide Jeffro, some nice trails there, and not rutted to pieces like a lot of them are up there …..

    Cheers

I had a look at the video from when we rode past those guys and you realy can’t see anything from it so I doubt it would be of help. You can barely make out some people standing there.
