Since acquiring the new Liquid Image Ego I’m wondering what are the best mount point positions?

    Helmet?
    Chest?
    Handle bars?

RAM makes a mount for handle bars.. Would there be too much shake on the bars?

    Feedback please….

I’ve seen a few bar mounts and they look very shaky. Then again I’ve seen a few swingarm mounted vids and they look fine??

Do you think you could mount the Liquid Image under the visor of your helmet and sideways so it’s now in your way? I’ve seen a GoPro mounted this way previously.

Chest will be alright if you stand up, I sit down a lot though so wouldn’t be much good for me.

    It’s funny but it’s true

I recon put a few mounts on and try them all and you will find the one you like the best, plus you can swap it around when you get bored with the one angle.

I have the chest mount and like it cause it’s out of the way, and I stand a lot.
But I also have one on my helmet that I use now and then.

This video by Adam Reimann of Toby Price uses a few interesting angles/mounts and looks pretty stable……..

I have used a rear mount now with success as seen in my last batch of vids. Handle bar mounts I tried bar mounts and they suffered from vibration. Chest mount worries me in that if I fall on my chest that hard camera has the real potential to cause serious injury I feel
Helmet mount with a tether I use most of the time. You need no high frequency vibration which is why a swing arm mount would be good and bars arent, something I will be trying will be the swingarm mount. The advantage with the go pros is they are bullet proof so many mount options can be used in any sport or spot it seems

I have ridden those tracks other than the motocross one, obviously much slower though :D

That last footage was with it mounted on the boot, something I have considered before but seeing as his fell off I probably won’t try it. I have also thought about the swingarm but worry about it falling off from hitting something.

I’ve seen a good video with it fork mounted too but can’t find it. Considering the movement of the lower fork leg it was surprisingly good.

So, anyone tried to mount under the helmet visor, attached to the upper part of the helmet? When I get the Liquid Image unit I’m going to see if this is possible, don’t really want it top mounted, I can see it lasting less than 1 ride.

Cheers for that STM…. Looks like the top helmet mount gives best overall coverage…. I’ve thought about positioning it so the camera mount is actually stuck to the rear of helmet with the camera peering just over the top of the helmet… I suppose I’ll just have to have a play…

Moto I don’t think the mount under the visor would work very well but I will have a looksy…

I’m spending fathers day with the children at the OWL’s nest and I’ll have a play while riding with my daughter…

Is youtube the only option for sharing videos with everyone?

Vimeo is a relatively popular alternative. I think Photobucket and Flickr will host video’s too from memory.

I had my Gopro mounted under the visor for a while but for some reason, after a while it got annoying, particularly going uphill. The is also the concern that in an accident it could do some damage to the face if you were to headbutt the ground or a tree visor first.

I will see if I can find some footage.

I had it mounted there for a while but for some reason it started to become annoying, especially going uphill as it blocked the view. There is also the chance that it could smash you in the face if you were to headbutt the ground or a tree in an off.

I will see if I can find some old footage.

I think Austblue was the one I remember seeing do it too. It would alright if you could mount it without using the mount so it doesn’t stick far down.

I like the sudden realisation that real life is not like playing Grand Turismo on Playstation.

I think mounting options will be all trial an error along with how much risk your willing to take with the camera. I bet to make videos like Adam Reimann does you are going to trash some gear.
