Just finished day one of the 2012 BMW gs safari!
We started in ballina with almost 200 riders who have made their way on a designated route to Glenn innes tonight for dinner and a few beers (possibly some bar racing too lol).
I had a blast on a big old 07 1200 gs adv which continues to blow me away at what it can do in the dirt, it’s insane for a big bike.
Steve Slade and Alan foster, both from wauchope where my riding buddies today which was good cause sladey had a gps lol. We passed a pile of guys in the dusty conditions with just one ass puckering moment when a cattle truck came the other way while we where passing three blokes! Luckily we missed him or I wouldn’t be typing this cause we where sitting on about 120 kmh when he appeared out of the dust cloud! It would have been messy.
We will be in port Macquarie Thursday so I’m sure you will see us traveling through, better tell the cafes to stock up on soy milk for all the lattes!

Sounds like your in for a good lot of riding Rockdog.

We passed a group of 4 Safari guys on their GS’s on the Tony Kirby ride. I had a bit of a chat to them when i was doing cornerman duties.

Definately something i want to put on my ‘to do’ list. ;)

    Enjoy.
