Day started crisp with blue skies
Everyone gathered ready to go and Tim fouls his plug whilst on choke. (first time he has had the plug out of that bike since he has had it)
9 starters and we were off through the first singles only 300m from home. B)
Through the cutting and into more singles. Gazza55 was doing it tough on the old classic PE 175 and called it quits before we reached the end of that single. Thanks for coming out Gazza, nice to meet you, and thanks to Looselink for showing him the way home. The rest of us carried on. We had a breakdown of the cornerman system which resulted in one run away. Caught up with Dan at the next intersection some distance later and we made our way back to the bunch.
Chunk had come off in the third single and hurt his left shoulder, so he decided to pull the pin also. :( Hope your shoulder is OK, mate. That meant Raw had to go too as the two travelled together.
So now we were down to 6 all within 5km of home. :(
The pack moved well through all of the next singles and our log track didn’t give too much greif.
Through Awaba tunnel then more singles out to the freeway and on to the quarry. A few of us did the little hill challenge where I have seen so many others come unstuck. The rest looked on and then we were heading to Amazon.

We all gathered at the base and I explained the best way to attack this hill. Its best done in sections so that assistance is close by if needed. Tim and CJ went first and they did the first three sections. Tim rode back down to the base of the third section and then rode the more extreme RH section. CJ and Tim then walked back down to help out the others. :)
I struggled a bit with the 500 but managed to get through unassisted. :cheer:
I think Thrillseeker also made it through but the slings came out with Looselink and Dan. The new WR450 did not like playing on this hill and was hissing all the way up.
From there it was up and up through some more tricky sections to the very top where we all had a small rest.
Some transport section where we cooled off and then it was down Slippery Rock on our way to hill 2
Some fresh tree falls made for some interesting challenges, then up Slippery Rock to gather at the base of the slab. This proved to be fun as it was just wet enough to give a few some hell. Thrillseeker had a couple of attempts but it was Looselink who had all the fun, NOT. :pinch: After 4 or 5 failed attempts he decided to let his rear tyre down and that made all the difference. Just goes to show how much difference tyre pressures can make. Some more rocks and slabs to get to the top where hit some more singles then said our farewells to Dan and Looselink. Hope ya’s had a good ride fella’s and we’ll see ya’s next time. :cheer:

Down into Congewei valley seemed to take forever and we all new that meant that the climb out was going to be steep, long and technical. The logs at the creek were still good but the bank on the other side is getting a bit steep. This hill is a great hill and the four of us got through unassisted. I think most of us layed our bikes down in one particular section. Hill 3 is always wet which adds to the challenge. Back along a transport section where we saw a large group of Porche 4WD’s, must of been a day out for the rich and famous. 😆 We decided to ride back down Amazon being the shorter route and it was on to Freemans for footlong at Subway and a splash of fuel.
By this time Tim had talked us into having a go at Razorback so it was there that we headed hitting a few smaller challenges on the way. Tim was already at the top of the seep rocks when the rest of us got there so I asked him to come back down to show us how it is done. He did with style and I got a few pics. Then I hit it and managed to nervously get through. :S  Thrillseeker and CJ also both made it and agreed it wasn’t too bad but could become very bad if ya messed it up. :silly:  I knew there was another challenge coming up and from memory it was going to even more of a challenge.

Riding up along the very narrow ridge gave us a different veiw and before long we were at the next part of the climb. Again Tim went first and again he made it look easy. ;) We all managed to climb this very steep, steppy section without incident and I was relieved but exhillerated to get to the top. From here we had single after single that went on and on and I was starting to lose concentration and make silly little mistakes. The singles around Awaba went on for more then 20kms and linked up almost continuously. We did some more hills back to Wangi Rd and one last little single to pull onto the tar a couple of hundred metres from home
Almost 130kms of riding snot and sick singles
Like I said, it was a great day
Thanks to all for coming out
Big thanks to Thrillseeker, CJ and Tim for making the entire distance
The next one will be called 4 hills and a footlong, all are welcome. 👿 B) :woohoo: :woohoo:
    Some pics later

    Great report Murph.
I enjoyed the little I did, the single trails are new experience for me, my dirt experience is very different and the power band of the PE does not suit that type of riding.
Located a problem with the PE, front forks had no pressure which made it dive all the time.
Broke a clutch lever bracket on the way back so finished with no clutch.
As the famous old prayer goes ” Age shall not weary them”, well I’m afraid it’s wearied me. :(
I think I’ll stick with the grade 3 runs and maybe a little adventure touring.
I was great to meet you all and I look forward to seeing you again out on the (easier) trails.
    Cheers. :)

No air in the forks would not of helped, from memory they only need a few PSI but it can make a hell of a difference. Sorry to hear about the broken clutch lever bracket. I almost feel guilty when someone breaks something on one our rides. Better the bike than the body though.
