    Looking for a pre 90’s XR 250 for flat track racing. Any condition or even a parts dunga would be fine.

    Hi Kamakazi,
    I have 2 XR250’s, unfortunately i’m not parting with either but I also purchased a 3rd bike for parts. :whistle:
    I have quite a few bits ie complete engine (stripped) Wheels, lights etc etc.
    When you get a bike if you need any bits just let me know.
    Not looking to sell anything but if I can help out an OBT member i’m happy to. ;)

    Thanks for the offer I just purchased an xr but I’m still looking for an 86-89 frame? what year model is your spare frame?

    sorry mate i dont have the frame. :(
    It was there but had a crack on the steering head so i left it there.
    Maybe try ebay if you havent already.

    If you can go to a 1990 one you will get a rear disc brake.

    It will be a good idea to fabricate a gusset the same as the later xr frames. It goes above the right foot peg where the sub frame is welded to the main frame rail. They flex here and will brake. Its only about an inch long.
    I did this to my 89 xr250 years ago. The paint was cracking from flexing at this point.

    Jimmy, yes the old XR frames are weak at the join you mentioned. They need gusseting and we’ll make up steel glide plates (bash plates with no side protection and plenty of holes), weld them in to try and tie the frame together.

    Plenty of photos when we get to that bit…
