Sorry for the late ride report but I did not realize retired life would be sooo busy :silly:
The adventure riders group were supposed to leave at 8.00am but some seemed to have trouble getting away.
We ended up with 6 starters and headed off about 0815
Masso ride leader
Owl 02
Fuchsy
Mickp
Bosso
Shedmarket sweepA short ride down the highway and we were heading up into the hills. The weather appeared to be perfect and there was little dust due to the recent rain.
The theme for the ride seemed to be Stop at every pub along the way
Glenreagh was the first stop at the Golden Dog but alas we were too early for drinks
Next stop was Nymboida, the lady behind the bar checked her watch, it was 10am Pub open
We then headed up the Old Glen Inness rd which was quite scenic if you could take your eyes off the road as there seemed to be a change in leader as Bosso took off in front and set a cracking pace
Nymboida river
Old bridge pylons
Dalmorton was the next stop. Bosso informed us he grew up in this area and gave us some history of the area
Masso arriving at Dalmorton
Up into the mountains we headed again reaching about 1330meters with the temperature dropping dramatically but Bosso decided to warm us up with a tyre changing episode. He had hit a cattle grid at speed and got a front pinch puncture (on both sides of the tube). Bosso dragged out a tube of Finnileak and says this will fix it but turned into a dismal failure.
With a team effort of Masso supplying the new tube and compressor, Owl 02 some tools to release the wheel, Mickp the tyre levers and Fuchsy for bike support we had the repair done quickly (by adventure rider standard) and were on our way again.
We stopped at a couple of lookouts along the way to enjoy the views
Next stop was Tyringham (I think, the locals can correct me if I’m wrong) for some lunch but there had been some confusion over preordering some supplies at the outpost so lunch basically came in the shape of a can or bottle from the liquor fridge.
Time was getting on and Masso wanted to get to Ulong club before it closed so we headed off up through Cascade to Ulong.
Bosso took Owl 02, Fuchsy and myself on a bit of a detour along the way with some nice overgrown single vehicle tracks. We had a brief stop under the old railway line from Glenreagh to Dorrigo
I think Fuchsy got a bit of helmet cam footage in this section :whistle:By the time our small group arrived at Ulong the others were on their second shout.
Bosso kept saying he was going to ride his DR650 up Widow maker on the way back and we all wanted to see that, so we took off to Nana Glen then into the hills again.
When we arrived at the Widow Maker Bosso inspected the hill while we readied our cameras for the carnage. I think the dutch courage had worn off by then and he decided against the challenge. It was getting late so we headed downhill to Woolgoolga and arrived back at the park about 5.30pm
A great day out covering about 320kms with a good bunch of riders and some magnificent countryside. :cheer: :cheer:Thanks again to Masso for leading/organizing the ride and Shedmarket for sweeping
Also a big thanks to STM and his crew for organising the weekend in his part of the worldMickp
November 29, 2012 at 10:28 pm #233027Good report Mick, there certainly is some nice country up that way and what better way to explore it than on a ADV bike!
As for the Finileak, if you actually read the instructions, two things stand out.
1) do not exceed 60kmh
2) not suitable for Motorcycles. :laugh:November 30, 2012 at 5:11 am #233028Thanks for starting the ball rolling Mick
I will upload my photos tomorrow

I told Bosso when he got the can out that I’ve never seen that s**t work on a bike yet

December 1, 2012 at 12:54 am #233029No wories Nick it was a pleasure to show the bloke around our area.
As it turns out there was no need for cornerman system as discussed pre ride.
For the first couple of sections I am sure I was holding every one up and as there was bugger all dust the whole pack virtually kept in visual contact so the ride flowed quite well.
When we got to the start of the rougher stuff I let Boz lead and at thet time everyone else decided ” Lets catch Boz”.
No worries, so Shedmarket and I swept for the rest of the ride taking it nice and easy.
Here is a few photos that I took.
Pre ride setup
I had to show the boys the Golden Dog
Mick explainded about Boz and his flat so we left a marker for next time as a reminder.
View from the look out.
This is the bottle shop at Tyringham.
Next stop was Platapus Flat which would be a great camping spot.
( Photo was taken pre ride and in panorama so I donot know how it will go on here)
More to comeDecember 1, 2012 at 1:05 am #233030Forgot to put these ones in.
Mickp with ATGATT NOT!!
Mick at my camp.
Back to the ride.
Another photo of a drinking establishment.
Ulong RSL Club.
By that time is was bee line back to home base. so no more photos were takenThat is about all I have so looking forward to do it again next year.
And in the mean time if anyone is in the area I would be quite happy to show them around.
Now time to get off this computer and get the bike ready for a ride tomorrow
