Well, with the first service of the bike done and the temperature said to be creeping upwards after lunch I figured why not just head out for a quick shake down after service ride around one of the local loops to check out whether the new handlebars put on at the service made any difference.
So it was off around Old Dubbo Road and heading towards Geurie with a small detour out towards Geurie homestead for a little look see on a piece of road I had not done before and whilst not a long piece of road it was well worth the detour as it wound it’s way around the hill behind the town.

Not the hardest road by any degree but still a ‘middle of nowhere’ feel which always makes riding enjoyable with teh road eventually ending at some tar.
From here is was back towards town and then a few more back roads to Wongarbon, where an attempt was made to see if certain roads went through, or didn’t. They didn’t and as a check of maps found after, it is not a locked gat but a property so no harm at all there, but still a good spot.

So it was a backtrack and then a side track that proved very testing with deepish sand, to show me just how much of a gumby I am when it comes to soft sand as the palms sweated every time the front tucked. But still the feet kept paddling and after a while it was back onto the main road, but this little side track was tough and once I lower teh bloody tyre pressures and get the knobbies I will be back to try again ……………. and probably pick myself up at some stage. 😆
From this point is was off and into the SCA nearby, making sure to stay on the public tracks as these provide heaps of fun by themselves with their erosion mounds and many variable surfaces. This place is always fun, if warm but I always leave here with a smile on the dial, although at one point today the smile disappeared when I came over an erosion mound and found myself in what looked hard, but was soft recently regraded dirt but for some reason I just leaned back and pegged it, straight through without even a wobble or ‘oh shit’ moment.
Now, while this place is fun there was a nearby track/road that I wanted to look at to see if it did go through as all maps had indicated and safe to say, while it does go through it does not see much traffic.

After a while longer the track/road emerges at a gate but it is difficult to see just where you came from.

Through the gate was more of the softer sand before the track emerges exactly where the map had said it would so in short I did answer my own question of ‘does this go through?”

And this guy was there as well

Have fun and stay safe over the holiday
