I have been having a few dramas with my cam freezing since i last updated it so i did a search and found this. Have not tried it with the old version yet but on the off chance someone has the problem here is a possible solution.

January 28, 2013 at 10:51 am #236077Some Hero 3’s are having the same issues according to the blogs. Seems it is a firmware problem. I have not updated my Hero2 so it seems you have dragged a bug into yours. The GoPro crew are no doubt onto it so update again regularly and I am sure they will fix the glitch.

January 28, 2013 at 10:58 am #236079I have to say I am not big on updates, my thinking is if its working and there arent any problems with how the thing in question is working why mess with it. I seem to end up with problems I didnt have after an update I didnt have before hand  I am not talking only about GoPros
Scotty is right if its known they will fix it quick smart

January 28, 2013 at 11:13 am #236078My hero 3 black freezes. Need to take the battery out to unfreeze it. Mine came with a warning inside the seeled box to update firmware before use which I did. My wifi stopped working after a couple of weeks
and go pros answer to fix it was to reload the firmware. This fix the wifi but still freezes. According to Gopro Facebook page they are saying the have fix all known bugs with this latest firmware update but there still seems to be lots of people complaining about the freeze issue including me.For the most part it doesn’t bother me I just pull the battery and replace it and alls good but last week I was down the coast snorkelling when it froze. Not about to pull it out of it waterproof case when floating around the ocean.
Guess I will wait for the next update to fix the bug they say they have already fix.

I agree with TB on the upgrade point. If my hardware is functioning well I always ignore the upgrade advice. Always!!STM
January 29, 2013 at 1:45 am #236084I have the gopro 3 black it froze but after reading a bit on the net. I tried one thing and that was deleting the files on the card and formatting the card while it is in the cam.Go through setting for this. And so far it has not frozen on me nor wifi not worked.
Give that a go.
RichJanuary 29, 2013 at 7:35 am #236088My Hero 2 also was also prone to freezing after I did a update
