February 12, 2013 at 8:37 am #236585Yeah mate I’ve used them. what do you need to know?
February 12, 2013 at 8:48 am #236586I’ve been thinking about buying a set myself.
What are the major benefits of them ? What are they suppose to do ?
Cheers
RichFebruary 12, 2013 at 8:50 am #236587How do you like them?
Are they the sort of thing that you love at first then take them off after a couple of months?
Do they restrict your movement in any way?
February 12, 2013 at 9:02 am #236592I raced Yellow mountain out at Condo last year and did some pre running for the event and found when standing under acceleration my arms were getting super tired. Steg Pegz pretty much stop this. They are also good for accelerating up hills as it gives your boots something to “hook onto” and keep you up and forward on the bike.
I didnt notice them getting in the way at all. They were a good investment and I wouldnt do anothet cross country without them.
February 12, 2013 at 9:10 am #236588How do you think they would be with everyday trail riding?
February 12, 2013 at 9:13 am #236593I have heard that if you wear pants that go over your boots they don’t grip as well as pants that go in your boots.
On the Kato’s it will give you one bolt to undo to get to the air filter, but not sure on the other bikes.
Only two things that i have heard against them and neither are a worthy reason not to buy them i think.
I stand a lot and recon they would be a good thing.PTW
February 12, 2013 at 9:35 am #236594No dramas Aido, definitely keep you up and forward on th ebike when standing and help reduce fatigue on your arms.

Aido I have been using a set on and off on the 530. As Pete says above with over pants you dont get the full grip on your boots. Like the bike the Steg pegz I didnt pay for so I cant say if I would pay for a set. At Finke Grabbo told Chicken and I that he only used them at Finke, not in the bush or Safari. Think thats still the same. Hope that helps a little, personally I would get my suspension done before I got steg pegz now days

February 12, 2013 at 10:16 am #236589I got a pair last week and did my first ride with them on Saturday, I couldn’t actually feel them and found myself leaning back so that I could.
On the Sunday ride I realised they weren’t all the way forward and once adjusted they definatley felt better but i think i need to get the extension arm to move them forward a bit more.
It seems to me they are most helpful when at speed. Will be interesting to see what they are like once I get the extension.
February 12, 2013 at 10:25 am #236605Luv em reduces arm pump you can stand up all day long and take the pressure off your arms, that is the biggest plus for me. Just lean back into em and let them take your weight.
Chris.
February 27, 2013 at 5:11 am #236590I had my first ride with them on sunday and to be honest i dont think they made a great differance.
We only did around 60k`s maybe they will be better on the longer rides.
March 10, 2013 at 4:46 am #237354Yeah luv em …….. now!
BUT there’s a story; when I first got my Kato 350 I had a problem with the gear change (I am a big guy 6’3″ or so with a size 13 hoofer so Katos not ideal!). To add to that I have a stuffed left ankle from too many crashes/breaks. So I fitted a set of Pivot Pegz to help with gear changes and also with hills. However the Pivots put a lot (no a real LOT) more stress on my wrists e.g. the point where I could only ride hard for about 15 mins at a time. I was going to ditch the Pivots but a mate suggested I try Stegz as well. Took a little while but eventually got the hang of it; some lessons for others
1: adjust the Stegz properly
2: practice locking and unlocking your legs into the Stegz while riding
3: keep practicing until it becomes automatic (took me about 10hrs actual riding)
3: I wouldn’t use then for MX only for enduro/trailPS anyone done any riding up around Nightcap/Mt Jerusalem/Mt Nardi/Whian Whian SF recently???
