February 24, 2013 at 8:46 pm #237231Yep thats a little wet Rach
February 24, 2013 at 10:44 pm #237233It’s wet alright.
I now live on an Island. We are completely cut off from Port Macquarie, Kempsey and Crescent Head with water metres deep along the Maria River Road.
We lost power on Friday afternoon and it came back on late Sunday which we are really thankful for because we stocked up of food etc on Thursday and we thought it might all go rotten before the power came back on. At this stage it looks like we could be isolated for up to a week.
We spent yesterday afternoon catching yabbies in the water as it flowed over one of the local tracks. The kids had a ball but today it’s raining again
I’m worried we haven’t seen the end of the rain yet as another low is now impacting on SE Queensland. If it forms into another eastcoast low we could be stuck on our island for weeks.
At least we haven’t had any floodwater enter our house. Poor Moose and Kathy have not been so lucky with floodwater flowing right through the bottom half of their place.
Goodluck to everyone else going throught the same at the moment.
If this goes on for too long I might start looking like EV’s avitar

Thanks for thoughts guys.
5th day and we’re high and dry (pun intended) but still living on an Island.
Beers runout  and we’re down to our last carton of long life milk and our bloody fridge decided to pack it in last night. Still have plenty of food though. Zy the hunter gatherer has been setting yabbie traps all over the place. How many ways can you eat yabbies
At least it’s not raining today.

Moose and Kathy copped a metre through their downstairs. A few old bulls and mini bike club members spent sunday helping them clean it out, washing everything, throw stuff out and pick up their stock (plants) and get sorted. They even had the fire brigade out there hosing stuff down. Well done to the silent helpers that just got in and got it done like true friends.
