33 AndyFor these extreme exploration events we will need only 20 support staff but as is the usual practice half you lot wont front up for some piss fart reason – like “on no I hurt my knee”. So we will take up to 40 nominations and after that you can go climb your own mountain.
A support vehicle will be shadowing the ride and can take fuel, food, drink and oxygeon to reduce the load on the expedition crew, it will also take a trailer and have at least two tools in the front in case of breakdown.
Please note that due to State Government changes to the game council, we are not allowed to carry hunting weapons on the expedition, however there will be trophies for the expeditioners that manage to catch some specific species that will be nominated on the day. For example you may have to catch and have mounted a feral pig.
Expedition Details
In the hope of riding in the snow, a few Tamworthians are heading to our Nundle base camp (400m) from where we will make an attempt to climb Mount Bollocks (1300m). In true expedition form, it will be a three day trip with forays daily up above the snowline to explore the wild country surrounding Mt Bollocks.
Day One will leave base camp after brunching on local delicacies from the takeaway shop opposite base camp for a 70 km run along game trails surrounding Mt Bollocks. We will hunt wild boar, venison, kangaroo and the very odd Boondog, as well as traversing the valley of the leach and the wild dog trail, before returning to base camp past picturesque Lake Bollocks.
Ride grade – Like a chicken twisty: Long, thin, hard, twisty and likely to make you green by the end.
To review Fridays foray and plan out the Saturday summiting, a meeting of the Nundle Expeditionary Club will be held at the clubhouse near base camp so crampons are optional. Once feasting and planning is complete some bench exploring will be conducted around the “Aaron put the petrol down” fire pit.
Day Two sees an early start as the main expedition day is 130km and includes the attempt to Mount Bollocks. Once he (it) is conquered we will set out on a Nundle style adventure ride to the Berry patch for an early lunch. En route we will travel via cuddle hill to our mountain cabin used as our winter base, before free falling 600m down parachute hill and crossing the mighty Nile River where many an Old Bull has met their match against the wild Pep. After our sumptuous lunch that is normally available for only $20 we will refuel from the local tank farm for $2 / litre and head off through valleys and mountains numerous until we reach the shores of Lake Krusty. A brief memorial service will be held here in honour of this really shiny flash Kato that was buried here in 2012 (rumours are that it was retrieved while many other believe it to still lie at the bottom of the lake.) A gentle traverse will then return us to the base camp before a summiting party is held in a fashion similar to Fridays planning night.
Ride Grade – generally rideable by Kato owners but escape roads are available for them on the hard bits. Parachutes required on down hills, straps of shame available on the uphills. Oxygen required on top of Mt Bollocks if he has the chicken curry on Friday night.
Day Three – Led by BOLLOCKS this will be an extreme attempt to ride every soul and bike destroying hill, valley, cliff and bottomless puddle he can find in a short morning excursion. Sites visited include: Sweet Mother of Jesus, C*** Hill, Slippery Hill, Yehaa hill, Pollys (“I smashed me teeth” ) hill, Damus’s mountain of death, Aarons creek crossing, Boonies Creek crossing, Damos descent, Buzz’s blackberry patch and Peps felching forest.
Or if he is hung-over the King may just do a tour of the best spots for goat sex in the forest.
Ride Grade – Bring a transfusion.
