to all 310 owners and people who mite know, what gearing are you using on your 310, and also what sort of fuel range are you getting with the gearing your using iv got 13 f and 48 r and struggling to get 70 km out of the tank any help would be great

    Hi Wolfie,
My 310 had 13/50 from standard and I changed it to 13/52 trying to get a bit more punch out of the corners :)
I could get 90k out of it without the fuel light coming on.
What year is yours? mine was 2011 (fuel injected) and had a 8.5 litre tank, I think the earlier ones might have a 7.2 litre tank??

Maybe you just ride heaps harder than me

trailraider mines a 11 mod too, mate im a grand ma when it comes to riding lol slow as and upside down a fair bit too :silly:

Maybe the fuel is leaking out when you have it upside down while doing a trackside inspection of the engine cases

Actually now that u mention it I don’t get much range out of mine either  mine is fuel injected, has the 8.5 tank. 2009. Wondee wjat strucky got out of it??

Going to ask stupid question now….how do you tell what gearing it runs? I usually don’t even know what gear I’m riding in most of the time ( until I start to change down and I have to just keep clicking that leaver :pinch: ).
Is it like a car and depends on what type of driving you’re doing??

    Hey OG,
Gearing is just referring to the sprockets 13/50 = 13 teeth on the front sprocket and 50 teeth on the rear sprocket.

Yeh,I’v got 13-50 on mine to,2010 mod, stock gearing I beleve. I did a fuel run the other day,and at 80 klm’s the fuel light came on just as it started to spluter  at 82 it ran out all together and I left my fuel bottle on the bench in the shed  I had to get my wife to do a rescue run.
Got the finger pointed at me ,once again

    Wolfie,
You could try going for a ride, hammer it or ride like you normally would for 20k or so and top it up with a measuring jug. Then work out how many k’s you travelled for the litres then work it out with your tank size.

Then you’ll know the worst case and be able to estimate the range depending on the day.

    Cheers

Thats exactly what I did,,figered that I would get about 100 k’s out of it,,but when it stoped there was still fuel in the tank that the pump couldn;t pick up.sounded like about a ltr when I shook it around and had a listen with the lid off.

1 Litre that’s a lot, might be a long shot but on my fuel pump they can become unclipped from the base and the pump pick up lifts up a touch. What this does is reduce the fuel range and leave some behind.

All that was required is a new cable tie around the pump and the body where it clips in.

    Cheers

This is what my pump looks like,

Thi is all a bit weird to me I’ve got over a hundred ks out of mine. I have removed the backfire restrictor, fitted great exhaust one screen left in (thanks Mr Barrett!!), standard gearing and had it remapped to suit and I get what I get out of it. I am over 50 and soft as a corporate financial advisor (noooo that is not what I do!!) but i get along OK. Mine is an MY’11 … unsure …

MMM! Thats interesting,,Thanks for that info guyes. I knew that I wanted to look into the maping to get more power of the bottom, maybe that has a bearing on the fuel consumption as well eh!
And I’l be having a look in the tank to,,,that could explain why it ran out of fuel just as the reserve light came on.
    Cheers Teza.
