As Boony has mentioned, I managed to have a get off at very low speed while trying to mark in a technical new single on Saturday. Apparently i kissed a tree with the outside end of the left side handlebar and the CRF felt that as punishment it should throw me off the bike. I think what happened then was that I tried to save myself by throwing the rt leg out but instead of level ground it found either a hole or some slippery shit, end result large cracking noise and then pain which quickly disapeared. Thought it ok when I stood up but after my first step the knee and foot were not pointing the same way. After an MRI and some other imaging (I know this place you can get them cheap) the verdict is as I thought a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament requiring surgery to repair. Off to Sydney for surgical consult and then hopefully under the knife next week.

So no starter for Seaview and Ill be doing an adventure ride by driving the morning tea / recovery truck for the Nundle ride while you mongrels get to ride my singles.

No TB I was not wearing knee braces, just knee guards. At least now Ill be able to claim knee braces on my health cover. Shame about the couple of grand the surgery will cost on top of the braces.

Thanks for the kind wishes from some of you, Boony I’d like my wallet back that you stole while I was lying on the ground.

Thanks to Chris and TB for the website which looks like Ill be living on for a while to replace days in the bush.

Jeez that’s lowering the standard Andy. A Yamaha to a Honda
Sorry about the mishap Snowy. I hope all goes well with the surgery and your back on the bike sooner than later.

Dam snowy I can hear that popping & cracking whilst reading that.

Its funny (NOT) how things go, I mean a mate of mine had a get off from a rock at slowish speed and fractured his arm and now your story. While for me I hit a roo at about 80km and got a swollen right knee with 2 weeks off work with pay. Needed the pay to pay for the bike repairs though.

Like its always the simple things.

Sit back take it easy and all should heal good in the long run for you.

Andy that might be a good idea, last ride all the Yamaha’s fell over. Sorry Buzz B)

No good snowy :( after slightly hyper extending my knee at bike territory I too will soon be looking at some knee braces. Hope you have a quick recovery

All the best on the recovery Snowy.
Like I mentioned in the ride report, I have been down this road during my time in the ski industry. Straight after surgery you just have to get back your range of movement as soon as possible. after that it is just time and you will be back to full power. No doubt you know the right people to sort that out B)
My thoughts are with you mate!

Bugger! Was looking forward to catching up with you at Seaview. I have had 2 ACL reconstructions and they are a pretty simple procedure now days. I am presuming they are doing a hamstring graft? Don’t go for a patella graft. That sucks bat. I had Dr Steve Woods at Nth Sydney sports injury, do my 2nd one and was really happy with his work, no brace required.

    Good luck with it mate.
