At the moment within 10 minute of my house I have multiple motorcycle store I can spend all my hard earned cash at. In the last month I’ve brought products from R&D Husky, Suttos, Western Motorcycles, Ballards and Exite Motorsport Yamaha. There is also a Kawasaki dealer Kelens if I choose to blow some more cash. Then I find out today this is opening in town across the road from Suttos.
Bloody hell how’s a bloke supposed to save his hard earned cash for a rainy day?
July 14, 2013 at 4:10 am #246022Interesting eh
I am careful where i shop and from experience now days its Tekniks, Sutto’s and then Ballards that’s it for me.
Spending my money in Penrith over the years leads me to think and know that Exite yamaha are crooks plain and simple, Kelvin stocks nothing, Westerns lost my business years ago because off attitude and telling lies. R&D I tried years ago when I moved here and I stood at the counter for 10 mins cash and oil in hand and no one served me. I even rang the shop while I stood at the counter to tell them I was at the counter and I witnessed the phone ring out so I left and haven’t been back.
The fact that Tekink’s and Sutto’s are site sponsors is because of the service they provide, we have been asked by others trust me we do our research.
All that aside yeah we have choice Scotty, MCS have last years stuff and lots of stock on hand true but they aren’t any cheaper then anybodymaybe Sunday shopping now

I can also say SUTTO’s support us through discounts for being OBT members. Got my helmet from them at a competitive price which they discounted simply for being on here!
July 14, 2013 at 5:45 am #246030…and lets not forget that Sutto’s donated the helmet that we got made up for TB

July 14, 2013 at 6:34 am #246023Interesting development, now we need a local network of tracks and ill be happy.
July 14, 2013 at 7:37 am #246024Have to agree with TB there.
MCAS has lots of last years stuff which you can normally buy for the same price at the other shops anyway. Not that I really care what year my gear is along as its the right price. I’ll normally check out the local guys first before I go to MCAS.
For example I bought some lenses from MCAS =30 bought the same ones from R&D for 12!! I haven’t had a problem with service at R&D and I’ve been there LOTS lately. Maybe you just got a bad day TB.LOL although I never have a problem getting served quickly at any motorbike shop….may I suggest a skirt and heels next time TB lol….
July 14, 2013 at 7:52 am #246025I guess you keep going back to where you get good service, and MCAS in Liverpool has been great over the years. My most repeated purchases are tyres and the saving of 15 – 20% is worth it. My gear lasts a few years so having last years gear at MCAS is never an issue.
A skirt and heels for TB – I’d go to any bike shop anywhere, just to see that! Cheers budgeJuly 14, 2013 at 8:02 am #246038Whats this last years gear,im still wearing my tycoon , rat and Jt riding gear.
THERE is a photo of TB in a dress and heels way up north.(will try and find it)
Not a good look, recon staff would run and hide if he turned up in it.

July 14, 2013 at 9:58 am #246026We are certainly spoilt for choice here in Penrith and it’s always good to be able shop with local business. A few of them have been trading in the area for up to 30 years or more so they must be doing something right.
My first port of call for most things is Suttos, has been since Chris opened his first store in Coreen Ave back in 93. Mainly for their customer service but also because we went to the same school and bummed around the same BMX track together as kids, only a stones throw away from the Coreen Ave Store. There was a period of time after he moved to York Rd where I was blown off by a rude arrogant sales person at the time. I didn’t go back to Suttos after that for quit some time until he moved to the Bat St store when I only went back to have a look at the new store. But as good as Suttos is I have reason at times to shop elsewhere. No one store can carry everything.
I do buy stuff from Ballards at times mainly due to them stocking some unique products. Customer service here at times is not so good. I have stood at the counter for looooong periods of time whilst I can see multiple staff out the back taking phone orders. I have thought at times it might be quicker to go home and order over the phone. The only saving grace is whilst I’m standing waiting I get to ogle Glen Bells trick Thumper Nats winning XR600 hanging on the wall.
As I’ve owned a few Honda’s and Suzuki’s over the year and currently still own an RMX I go to Westerns for OEM parts. Never had an issue with customer service. If parts not in stock usually in my hands within a couple of days.
R&D Husky is closest to my home so the quickest place for me to go for to odd bottle of oil and the like. The Applesgren family have been in business in the area for a long time and I even remember a time when Sutto worked at the old Husky Imports. 10 out of 10 from me for customer service especially recently after my nephew had a head on and cause a lot of damage to his 610.
Teknik is my obvious go to person for suspension and the WR suspenders will be there soon for a major work over. Nick also build my XR280 engine years ago when he was still working at Ballards.
Excite Motorsports? Don’t know much about them but bought a set of Dunlop Tyres from there recently at a good price mainly because I had an appointment close by and had some time to kill so went in for a wander. Now I own a Yamaha I will probably give them a go for OEM parts and see how they go.
Kelen Kawisaki? Never shopped there.
MCA? I usually drop into the Auburn store if I am down that way but to be honest other then a few cheap tyres never really bought much there. That being said when the Penrith store opens I will no doubt go have a look.
If all this fails I hit the net but I love the fact 99% of my dirtbike needs are meet by local businesses. I also like the fact I’ve never been in one of these stores and heard them dumping shit on one another. I think that speaks volumes in the confidence they have in their own businesses and the products they sell.
Oh and the bastards are sending me broke. Now after the suspension work to the WR I think I NEED a steering damper, bigger tank and maybe one of them flash recluse clutch thingys………..
July 14, 2013 at 11:18 am #246062To save yourself the grief maybe (although it will happen) try Brian @ Team Moto Yamaha Blacktown Scotty worth the drive or can send it you. Right parts EVERY TIME, will give you a discount if you tell him I sent you. He rings back and goes to the end of the earth to source your parts, a Champion bloke (doesnt work Tuesday I think it is  ) there is nothing in it for me, they arent a sponsor and I get nothing for it off course but to share good service to you

July 14, 2013 at 11:26 am #246027Yeah my brother in law gives Team Moto a good rap too. He is a massive Truimph fan and has bought 6 new and a couple second hand Truimphs from them in the last 5 years. Just means going to Blacktown and I hate that hole of a place. M7 at least makes it easier.
July 24, 2013 at 4:06 am #246028Hi all,
I called into the Penrith MCA on sunday, not a bad store but they didn’t have enough staff on hand to cope with the amount of people in the store, they also didn’t have any of the Asterisk knee braces that I wanted and I know the Auburn store stock.
So after wandering around there for 30 mins or so I jumped back into the car and went to Auburn. It is a smaller store than the Auburn one, and therefore they cant carry as much gear but they still did have a fair variety.
Looked like it wasn’t really full and they are probably still trying to get the place stocked up. I will call in again in a few weeks and see how they are going.
July 24, 2013 at 4:31 am #246811Havent been there yet myself, for the record Sutto’s have Asterisk braces
If I get time this weekend I may go and stick my nose in there, I notice there is a fellow postie rider working there
