Hi all
I’m after some input on boots
I purchased a pair of Oneil about 4 rides ago and have ripped the sole on the kick starter. There in the boot doctor and he’s attempting to glue and stitch it back together but he’s not confident on saving them..
He told me that the pair I have with the moulded sole arnt much chop and recommend on getting a pair you can re sole if need be.
I’ve been shopping in rocky today but only come across the moulded type and was wondering what brand/type you guys are usingCheers H

I got O’Neil MX boots. Mine have got a red replaceable steel sole.
I find them a bit hard to bend. ie rear brake pedal. not bad for the price I paid though.

July 29, 2013 at 8:20 am #247227I had Alpinestars for years and while they were good boots and wore well I found the booties annoying. Got Gaerne now and find them very comfortable and durable.

4 rides, I’d be tempted to take them back to the dealer and get him to mention it to the rep on his next visit. Can’t hurt.

My last 3 sets of boots have been Gaerne, the first 2 lasted me about 8 years each.
Currently I have gaerne SG12’s, super comfy even walking around in them.
There is no breaking in period with them, you can wear them straight away all day.
They are 2 years old, showing no signs of wear except they don’t come real clean anymore (dont get white), durability not an issue but they are a bit pricey.
For me, they are the closest thing to the ground when you are on the bike, therefore the first thing to touch the ground (hopefully) when you fall off so, like a helmet, I am happy to spent the extra for the protection and with the long life span its money well spent anyway
Just my opinionJuly 29, 2013 at 9:57 am #247241Suttos did me up a good deal on tech7 alpine stars and you can try them on in rocky and order your size and have them sent to ur mates place.
July 29, 2013 at 10:06 am #247243Thanks for that
I’m heading down to a mates place down in the hunter valley on Wednesday for a few days riding
I might come home the coast and call in to Sutto’s and check some out NATOTR. I’ve been online looking at the gaerne’s and they look great
Just gotta convince the ministress of finance lolCheers for that

July 29, 2013 at 10:18 am #247244I had the oneal elements with no joy either ..h.. I ended up going the Gaerne SG10 and rode in them almost every weekend for 3 years .. Great boots.
Last Christmas my wife bought me a pair of the Sidi Crossfires with replaceable soles and they are also great boots !
One thing both these boots have in common is a hinged ankle which for me made the break in period very quick and they are very comfortable

Make that 2 for the TCX PRO 2
First pair still going after 16000 + km adventure riding & at least 6000 + km in single track, mud & beach sand

TryhardYou have the Pro 2.1Tryhard which has addressed a couple of issues I’ve had with previous models, nothing major. I have three pairs starting when they were called Oxtar TCX which endured years of abuse of single trail.
I’ve found they have a generous width for my wide foot which some others don’t offer. The booty and hinged ankle makes them ccomfortable almost immediately. So much so that you could get your bike stuck in the bush and walk 17Ks through pissing rain and swollen creeks and not even get a blister or sore feet. Don’t ask
Had Gaerne before that, good boot.
