About a year ago now I picked up an old but never used front disc guard for my XR, but when I fitted it up the thickness of the alloy would cause the wheel to off-set and brake disc to scrub the brake pad almost locking the front wheel. I’ve managed to find out that it should have been sold with a spacer kit. I tried contacting Devol, 1/2 a dozen times now, but they’re ignoring me and I’ve also tried asking retailers of DeVol stuff here and OS if they can help but i’m getting nothin!

Any Ideas from the tech wizards or brains trustees ???

    Cheers in advance B.W.

I don’t have an XR or a Devol disc guard so visualising how it’s mounted is tricky. Perhaps your going to have to fabricate something so maybe a photo of what it looks like mounted can help us with some suggestions?
Some XR owners that see the photo can compare with guards they have and can let you know how it could/should be mounted?

Over 48 hours and 1 response, must be time for the farm mechanics to tune in.

If you can find some measurements on the spacer, happy to turn one up on the lathe.

Thanks boys photos to follow soon, Im thinking its a case of taking off the 3-5 mm off the disc side spacer or the same thickness as the disc guard. I have tried getting some info but not being so popular there is little info on them, I might try asking some Sepo’s on TT too.

Thanks for the offer Dickie, might take you up on that once I’ve got a few answers or even just a spacer to play with.

This is how its supposed to mount but when its on the added thickness of the mounting plate (5mm roughly) causes the disc to scrub on the right hand pad

Was thinking I might be able to cut or get the spacer collar, just the 5mm roughly, using a band saw & a vice to make sure its square

    Roughly 5mm :P

Guard I.D. Which stops the guard from moving further past the threaded section of the axle. I’m thinking this is a design/ manufacturing floor.

    Hope this helps

The photos make more sense now.
New axle collar 5mm shorter to allow for the 5mm guard I’m thinking. Someone can turn it up easy. Otherwise cut 5mm off the end of it to shorten maybe.

Devol ore awful to deal with, keep going, you will have to make everything yourself.
