96 XR400 – OLD Bull Trailriders

I have a fairly clean low miles XR400 for sale, or I’d swap it for a decent kids 125-150 four stroke.

I got it for 1500 bucks from a farmer who’d had it in the shed for about 10 years and I rode it a month ago at his place.

He’d pulled all the speedo/blinkers etc off and lost some of the bits including the front plastics, I have all of that now from Honda (new).

I’ve got the plastics/subframe/airbox all pulled off at the moment as I wanted to clean it all thoroughly, and I have a whole heap of new bits and pieces right down to tank decals, jets, fork skins, unifilter, all sorts of stuff.

I have spent about 6-700 bucks on bits and only want the amount I can show you reciepts for.

I’ve got a brand new gasser 450 in the garage and am more interested in that, so the old girls up for sale.

The speedo reads about 2600km’s and he said he only did a couple of holiday trail rides after he took it off.

I believe him cos he was a real good old bloke and theres still little factory stickers on the frame etc.

If some one comes and wants it I’ll put in a day with them at mine putting it back together, or I’ll get it done soon.

I will look seriously at a decent kids bike in exchange, but I won’t give it away I’ll just keep it as a spare.

Just got the missus hassling me a bit about the garage…

She’s all back together now and running sweet as.

Adjusted the valves and deco lever properly, and fitted 160/60 jetting with the later model needle along with a new unifilter.

New plug/oil/filter as well as new fuel hose with inline strainer.

Absolutely no starting issues with this XR, starts very easily.

Blinkers etc all mounted but need minor sorting for rego.

This is a good solid bike.

I will swap it for a good 125 four stroke for my kids, with cash adjustments as required, just PM me.

Around 26-2800.

I’d have to count it all up.

I only want what I spent, my (extensive amount of) labor is free.

No worries,

Looking through the receipts it’s more likely to be around 24-2500.

Like I said I won’t try to profit from this, but i won’t loose money either.

It’s got 2600 kays on the speedo and is on the original (but buggered) street gearing chain and sprocket. Needs a new rear tyre but front is OK.

You might notice my garage is cluttered and causing a disturbance in our marital zen…

No, I called him and left a message but he didn’t call back.

A bloke from down at Kendall took it for his son.

Could have sold it 3-4 times once I put it in Gumtree, went first day.

Now I can get a 125 for my kids…
