over the weekend my son was with me helping do a small job on the side of a large rocky area on the side of the hill, when tragerty struck.

my son was helping when I told him to go stand over near a mound of dirt while I lit up a pile of rubbish, he did what he was told and while I lit it up I looked back to double check he was ok when I saw him slip when bit of the mound gave way and he tumbled down and went over a small ledge and disappeared out of my site.

all I could hear was him yelling and screaming , I started to run over to were he went over and out of my site when he came to the side of a tree bout 20mtrs around the hill with blood coming out of his head, when I got to him he had a 50c piece of his scalpe missing and his scull exposed, calming him down and checking him over we were in the ute racing for home, got mum and raced to orange base, on the way to hospital which is around 30 min drive he was drifting in and out , once at hospital the staff took over ,they were great ,my little man was givn the all clear to come home today but we have to still keep an eagle eye on him over the next few days ,he has 6 stitches in his head heaps of skin off him over his body, he is a tough kid and he argued he was going to school we gave in and let him go to school on the condition he took it easy and his teacher was ok as well, so he spent the arvo at school with his head bandaged up lovn all the attention.

accidents can and will happen but please be carefull everybody ,it could have been worse for him and us

Sounds like he had a lucky escape. Last kid I went to help with a head injury on the footy field didn’t make it home. You are a very lucky man. Hope he is feeling better soon.
