October 13, 2013 at 2:32 am #250651It doesn`t get much more diabolical outside than this, strong gusty nort westerly, 38 degrees and extreme fire danger, so I opted to stay out of the bush today
You can`t beat the lounge, a good pie and cold drink in the comfort of the AC watchin Australias greatest race all day long
A bit non exciting so far, no big crashes but who would have thought one of Boony`s mates would think jumping on the track was a good idea today,, of all days   :laugh:October 13, 2013 at 2:39 am #250669I did an Adveturethon (multi spot race) this morning so I have well and truly earned a lazy arvo on the couch watching the race.
Plus I really need to dehydrate!!STM
October 13, 2013 at 2:59 am #250652I saw that race advertised and thought who would be mad enough to tackle it ???
Enjoy the re hydrating mate !!!I think Murphy just moved that wall as he tagged it, it was a big hit :pinch:
October 13, 2013 at 3:37 am #250653I was at Bathurst two years ago, it was absolutely ball tearingly freezing. Looks a bit warmer today.
I bit of motor racing trivia of mine. I’ve got Jochen Rindt’s autograph. Who? Google it!

October 13, 2013 at 3:53 am #250654Bathurst is a bit like a good ADV ride then Wiggy
Ball freezing one minute, stifling hot & dry the next, then get hammered by a late storm and get drenched :laugh:Take appropriate clothing to cover all conditions
Jochen Lindt – The only driver to ever be awarded a championship after his unfortunate death :S
Quite a legend amongst the F1 community apparently.October 13, 2013 at 5:01 am #250670EAGLE`02 wrote:Bathurst is a bit like a good ADV ride then Wiggy

Quite a legend amongst the F1 community apparently.Well done Eags, indeed he was and still is, the only F1 driver to win the championship posthumously.
I got his autograph in ’72 at the British Grand Prix (I was 12). I think he was killed a couple of weeks later.
My Dad was heavily involved in sponsorship of motor racing at the time so we got pit passes to a lot of events. It was fantastic to be able to wander past Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart etc. I’ll bet you wouldn’t be allowed to do that now.
I’ve got a photo somewhere of my old man presenting the winners trophy and garland to the winner of a formula 3 event in the early ’70’s. The young man in question…..James Hunt.
Must see that new film about him and Lauda.
