    Hi all,
I am looking to plan my first “Adventure” ride for the ten 660 & a mate on his Sertao 650. We are both capable enduro riders but dont want to bite off more than we can chew on our first adventure ride. We are looking at doing maybe 3 or 4 days away between Xmas & New years leaving on boxing day.
Can anyone give me some ideas on some destinations & routes?
    Cheers,
    SNEAKY

Plenty of great trails and you can load em straight up on your GPS and follow the little line. At least you wont get lost!

It would help Dave if you gave us a little bit of info , where do you intend to start from ? Which direction would you prefer to go ?

It would also help to know if you want to see stunning scenery , or ride the bejesus out of your bike , most of us have come from trail / enduro riding to Adv riding but there are 3 or 4 different types . I personally like to ride from fuel stop to fuel stop , that is the other limiting factor in Adv riding , fuel range , we would need to know the lower of the two bikes fuel range to advise on a route accurately . As seen , There are several issues to consider when asking for advice as you have done . Filling in the blanks in your profile would cover a couple of them ;-) .

    Thanks OFBM,
You make some good points which will obviously help people help me. We will be confirming that we will actually be going in the next week or two so we can then give a better indication on what we are keen on. What is for certain if we go is that we will be leaving from my place in Cameron Park. I have a 660 Tenere which I expect to get around 400 K’s out of & my mate is on 650 GS Sertao which is good for about 300k’s. Predominantly want to hit dirt roads, see a bit of the country & make it home in one piece!!

    Hey man,

Our ride to the OBT birthday bash was interesting without being too hard
I can shoot you through the GPX log if you want. Do you have a GPS?

    See here http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php/forum?view=topic&catid=78&id=131954

or a ride to willawarren was slightly more strenuous.

    See here http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php/forum?view=topic&catid=78&id=131502

    or the Barringtons

    See here http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php/forum?view=topic&catid=78&id=130944

    Or Nundle

    see here http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php/forum?view=topic&catid=78&id=115463

Just pick a destination where you can get a coldie and a detour for a Latte

    Some good suggestions there.
You could go up over the Barrington tops, across to Nabiac, up the back way to Wauchope, crash out here (spare beds if you want to rough it). Head up to Nowendoc via the back way, across to Nundle and visit the Tamworth crew blah blah blah.

A great day from cameron park would be george booth drive onto richmondvale road into Mulbring.

Turn onto sandy creek road, enjoy the bends and shade and then onto dirt with a left turn onto wattagans forest road. Pop out at letter A and head to Kulnura for a splash of fuel and a burger.

From there you can head to St Albans pub via the dirt and then overnight at the resort at wisemans ferry (cheap and nice in the off season) . Dinner at the historic pub.

    OR

If you dont want to stay overnight, head down bumble hill into yarramolong and play on some more lovely tar roads, back via cooranbong and home.

One section of dirt and some nice tar on the day trip and two dirt sections on the overnighter. All of it nice and easy. The great thing for me on these bikes is the combination of offroad and onroad riding.

Have fun whatever you decide. This whole route can be plotted on google maps. no probs.

Sounds Like a good ride that one Simmo , have you booked accommodation yet ? I’d have thought that pubs would be booked out around the Xmas – new year period and short staffed too . I try not to travel at all at that time of year , double demerits and clueless nongs on the road in their thousands , but if you have the time available and nothing else on … Why not ?

    Cheers
