November 10, 2013 at 8:52 am #251625November 10, 2013 at 9:33 am #251628I will qualify that I do sell the above chains for a living. The 520EXW is a great chain designed specifically for 250 through to 650 Enduro bikes. Hence the name EXW (Enduro XW ring). We get plenty of miles out of them and in the 8 plus years since this chain has been out I’ve never done a chain warranty or had any questions over durability. Most recently I’ve been running one on my 690 with about 5000k of road and offroad and it’s barely needed an adjustment.
November 10, 2013 at 9:38 am #251633Totally agree with TB and D Rally, these chains definetly do the business and will last ages.

Same.
Did try other brands years ago but found these to be best.
The X-ring seems to give better protection.
Cheers

Normally Nate never lube it, just fit it with new sprockets. After the first ride adjust it once and that’s it. Never lube, always steam clean my bikes basically all the wrong things. When the front sprocket shows the first sign of maybe starting to wear and hook I replace it, will do that twice and then the third I fit a new chain. That’s around 20k on the Tenere, but I have always treated my XR and the 530 the same. The 530 has just had the original sprockets replaced after 70hrs of a big bore dirt bike. I had fitted the RK chain when it was brand new, it’s had 2 front sprockets. Be it the desert, mud or wherever no lube, the lube is internal in the rollers sealed with the X or O rings. Anything you spray on it externally will attract dirt and girt and become a paste that wears the teeth of the sprockets.
Try it, it not my theory people smarter than me put me onto it years ago
Oh and the 2 reasons I run a gold chain are for looks and because they dont rust after washing between rides
