    Gday all
Got a 2008 model drz400E believe it has a keihin FCR 39 carby which is original from new.  I have removed the snorkel from the air box and the exhaust is standard. Not sure what the dealer did to derestrict it when I purchased it new.
Due to the fact that the air box has the snorkel removed I thought I should re jet the carby to suit.
From what I’ve read on the internet (and I dont believe everything i read on the internet)this is my plan and any comments, suggestions would be appreciated.

    1. Remove the coast enricher and plug any openings due to its removal

    2. Put in a 160 main jet (165 is standard I think)

    3. Put in a 70 idle air jet

    4. Buy a “T handle mixture screw” for easy adjustments

    5. Connect to a CO2 meter  (mate is a mechanic) and set the mixture screw.

    thanks in advance.

    Gotowo,

A good place to start for DRZ’s is Thumper Talk see here: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/215-drz400-faq/

Usually when you free up the air you need to free up the fuel, i.e. bigger fuel jets not smaller, having freed up the air box I’d leave the air jet alone, but consider the pilot jet if your mixture screw is more than two turns out for good idling.

With my DRZ I moved the needle clip down one position to richen up the mid throttle position, can’t remember what the main jet was.

Your suspension will need some tuning too if its standard, again Thumper Talk has some good tips.

    Adam.
