Had a few enquiries regarding Merlyns progress, thanks everyone for your thoughts, I have passed onto shane the comments and well wishes.
Basically Shane has scaffolding down the top third or so of his spine, titanium pins and plates that are holding everything together. He is up and walking and doing laps of the ward twice a day.
The broken ribs are healing and the same with collarbone. While all the major damage is under control there are a few secondary concerns like clots and hematomas and some issues with a lung that are keeping him in hospital.
Long term he is going to have limited mobility in the top part of this back and neck so he is looking at having to give up the dirtbikes at least.
His KTM 990 R is currently for sale at KTM Newcastle if anyone is interested in a fully fitted out adv bike with next to no klm and all the bells and whistles. The flinders trip in April is obviously cancelled ….. inconsiderate bastard that he is

He did a job on himself then mate :unsure:Shame when it comes to this and looking like not getting back onto a bike, let alone the other issues he is having,,,
Please pass on that I was only just wondering on Friday where he was up to with the recovery,,Thanx for the update too mate
