I picked up my 2014 Beta 450RR Factory today and first impressions are really good. Lee and Claudia at Crossroads Motorcycles on Grafton have great service and Lee spend most of the morning setting it up for me.
As soon as I got home she was unloaded and on my single track in no time , I rode some hills , grass track and singles , with a bit of fire road to help the run in process. It’s first map is mild mannered and ideal in very right singles , the second map turns it onto a fire breather and was unreal on the fast erosion mounds and sand.
Unfortunately it will never look this good again

May 10, 2014 at 5:45 am #256527Congrats mate, looks great! Where do Beta source their engines? Are they still a KTM power plant? A mate had one and loved it, actually, haven’t spoken to him for a while, odds are he still loves it!

They are still carburettor which I really liked for trail side repairs

May 10, 2014 at 6:24 am #256534Nice ride Nick.
Nimble like a girls bike (250) but powerful like a mans bike (450), hillclimbs should be a piece of piss on that thing.
May 10, 2014 at 6:24 am #256535that’s a crap beater!!
:p :silly:
They seem to be well priced too…. Aren’t they?
Shop just north of melb had one advertised for a whisker under 10k, although it wasn’t a factory model. Do they have the option of carb or efi? One I saw was efi I think. Will see if I can find the ad and double check.
Happy trails Nick with a schmick
Ride. :woohoo:
May 10, 2014 at 6:58 am #256536The factory is a bit more than 10k XY but I’m sure there would be great deals on run out standard models , from what I can see the factory models sell fast and there isn’t enough to meet demand which could be good for resale !!
As far as I know they are all carbonated which I like

That will look beautiful sliding down the Widow Maker mate
Keen to hear an in depth review once you have spent some time on it.STM
May 10, 2014 at 7:15 am #256539Yeah figured the factory model would be a little bit more. And thought the 10k may well have been a run out unit. still looked like was well worth looking at if in the market.
.
Ad for a Std model states Sachs suspension.

Because you can’t afford to
Seriously Nick it looks awesome. all the good gear on it from the outset. Cant wait to see it in the flesh soon. Enjoy the extra poke did you? Just cruising the pictures again, it looks great :woohoo: I wouldn’t worry about EFI now days, after the early Euro only dramas everyone seems to have it sorted, I haven’t seen one trailside stopped for about 5 years or so.
Congratulations
It does look good have I mentioned that

The standard model does have Sachs front and rear but it’s surprisingly good , on the Beta test day the bike were set up and nothing changed for a huge variety of riders , everyone I spoke to commented on the handling so I thing Sachs may have got an unfair rap lately.
The factory model has Marzocchi forks which seem good and a Sachs rear shock , unlike my Tenere which had a Sachs shock and very little adjustment this has high and low speed compression and rebound. After setting the rider sag I was over a third adjustment used so I may need a heavier spring if I don’t stop the smoko pies
