Hi everybody, long time no see. I have officially began my 2014 Scrapheap Adventure ride build. I thought I was going to miss out on the fun this year as Mick sold both of the red pigs and got himself some Yamaha thingy-ma-jig. But fate stepped in and Toes rang me and donated the remanants of a TM250, if I could come up with an engine. A quick look around the shed left two possibilities, one, chop up my unicycle dragbike, nooooooo, two, chop up my sons FZR250, he’ll never know:)

I only found out today that Pezz is doin the same kind of conversion. I did a few hours tinkering last night and the FZWHY250 was born. The front of the TM250 actually fits perfectly, but the rear suspension is goinng to take a bit of work with the sawsall and tig welder, and ill have to modify the fuel tank as the rear shock will be right in the middle of it. Oh, and I guess I should contact my son and let him know that he donated his FZR to a good cause, maybe I’ll let him know sometime in October:)

Not enough, I need a 100 tooth sprocket for the rear, this thing doesn’t begin to make power until 10,000 rpm, but it should sound pretty wild tearing through the forest at 17,000 RPM, twin cam, 4 cylinder, 16 valves, it sounds like a formula one car,lol

When I got word that this project was underway I had to rip around to Charlie’s to check it out in the flesh. TB is right Charlie does have incredible foresight, his VT250 unibike is testament to that! Anyhow the project is well under way and actually looks right! Here is a pic from the other side

Hey Charlie, I got thinking after I left last night, it might be easier to convert the arse end into a twin shock set up as opposed to using the monoshock. That way the fuel tank and airbox can stay as is. Just a thought?

    Twin shock mick?

They’d have to be looong  :p maybe a second pair of forks on the rear? :silly:

For gearing could ya run a smaller rear?

You blokes and your scrapers builds! Got me building something in my mind out of the parts and possibilities………

Nar be no good Mick, he’d have ta change the exhaust/ muffler.. :p

I have no idea without looking at he bike, but as you said if done twin shock wouldnt have to play with the tank and air box. Be worth looking at.

Just twin shocks now is a bit like advising someone to ride a bike with pds :silly: :p

Its looking awesome. How many scrappers are going to have factory ohlins suspension,
factory brembo brakes, hydraulic clutch,(Are you running with the hyd or cable)

Mick don’t think the frame will handle twin shocks.
Charlie said he would call me when he was starting.Sent a photo that I thought was
what it will look like.turns out it half way there.
    Only started 3 days ago.Go Charlie.:) :)

    Charlie

My RG250 scrapper has fought me all the way LOL

    I have had to make numerous bush’s and spacers . . . .

Good the front end was simple, you are motivating me with mine :)

    Pezz :)

As it turns out, I need to make one spacer for the front suspension and two little ones for the rear. How is your bike coming along.
