I’m thinking about an adventure bike guys, will be used mainly for a commuter for a daily commute from the central coast to Western Sydney about 110km. All tar mostly freeway and some suburban traffic. Will have to carry some gear to and from work a few times a year it would do some long range adventure cruising as we’ll not hard core desert racing but I would still like to be able to get into the state forests and the like. So I’m thinking the Ktm 1190 (the plain jane version with the 19 inch front). What do you think guys does the bike suit my intended use?

go the R mate get that 21” inch front if you are even thinking desert

Ride it and a BMW R1200GS, they are the only two (big adv bikes) that can do both road and dirt well. Make your choice from there. I’m biased as I sell the BMW but it’s awesome on and off road.

My 2c worth ; Me , I would not even consider using a 150 HP bike as a commuter in Sydney , Why ? Speed cameras , Highway Patrols , traffic congestion and twisting the wrist with a bit of clear road ahead , I’d hold a licence about 3 weeks before it was toast and I owed the gummbymint shit loads of money in fines .

I’d look for a GS 500 or some thing similar for about $ 3K and get a nice adv bike for the remainder of the intended budget , flog the GS mercilessly cause you can 😆 and they will take it and beg for more and have the nice adv bike for when I could use it as it is designed to do and not wear it out dodging numbty heads in cages doing their make up .

Agreed, but swmbo is already not to happy about a second bike, that’ll own a third. Looked at the Beamer yesterday and she looks awesome as well. Never ever thought I would be considering buying a new BMW.

probably one of the best bikes on the market, have just sold one but will definitely buy another. Hard work in the tech stuff, but one great machine, you can annoy the shit out of sports bikes, great on the dirt, pick a destination and go
