Interesting bit of news on the ABC last night
I would be interested, if this passes, if the dynamics of this website will change?
Will we have to have a Chinese pit bike section???
I would like to hear the members views, and maybe some of the Victorians members views???(if they are still out there  …well Menace is always “out there”
I don’t know about you blokes, but every time I see some peanut riding around a state forest on a unregoed bike, no helmet and a few rug rats on pit bikes up his hammer..(as in this video) it makes my blood boil.
BUT…Registering a bike is a very expensive thing to do if your only going to be riding in state forests and the like,… so the idea certainly has its merits.
Is it being introduced because it is way out of hand and the authorities are fighting a losing battle?
Maybe if people apply for a rec rego, they can be made to understand the dangers of motorcycling to them ,their family and other people using state forests? If they have a rec rego, can they have a better understanding of bike safety???
There will always be idiots out there who give everyone else a bad name. No matter what you introduce there will always be that element. Will this rec rego perhaps diminish the idiot factor to some extent?
Will we, as trail bike riders…been seen in a better light by the general public? Will you as a trail bike rider…change over to an unreg bike..or continue as you are???
Thoughts?
Bol :woohoo:
July 17, 2014 at 5:02 am #258371Will it encourage users to be licenced?
If it drops the price of rego and insurance then all good. We pay full fare at the moment and most dirt bikes barely see tar, and don’t travel 10,000 -20,000k’s per year and only carry one person.
We’ll see what comes from it all, but I won’t be holding my breath :pinch:
Adam.
July 17, 2014 at 5:50 am #258376I would love to see it come in
And like you Bolls, I get mad with unreg trail riders (going the wrong thing, not wearing helmets, etc) giving us all a bad name.
Another thing that makes me mad is what the Greens MP said in the video that you linked ……..what a tosser!
July 17, 2014 at 6:58 am #258372I can`t see it coming in,
It`s been talked about before and falls on it`s ass usually :whistle:Even if it did come in I doubt it will change the tosser`s attitudes, they will still be tossers and blatantly ignore any regulations and carry on regardless , That`s why we call them tossers

July 17, 2014 at 7:50 am #258375Gee Andy you sure pull some weight with the Government
What else can you fix
Adam.
July 17, 2014 at 8:00 am #258379The fact that they have a paper being put together for submission is a step further than they have gone before I think so that is a step in the right direction. As Eagle said there will always be those who do the wrong thing regardless of the cost but I also think there will be plenty prepared to do the right thing.
Regardless of whether the “tossers” do or don’t abide by it, if it is brought in it will still make it cheaper for those that want the rec rego rather than full rego.Personally I will stick with full rego as I like to jump on the bike and head out the driveway to parts unknown sometimes rather than have to worry about trailering out to a start point.
July 17, 2014 at 8:07 am #258381Hey Andy…………
Can you get on to your mate Kev and get the tax rate lowered for us all?

July 17, 2014 at 9:31 am #258382Just get free beer for full rego bike owners.
Rec rego six.
July 17, 2014 at 9:51 am #258383Blah blah blah don’t people get it, rego can be cheaper yes (mines only $100 which is fair I reckon) but TO ride in a public area ie: state forests etc you will need a GREEN SLIP for insurance and that is the killer isn’t it?
Vic only has it because they don’t have a compulsory insurance system like NSW they do it differently and No state with green slip style insurance doesn’t have rec regoIt will never happen
Btw I am neutral on the subject because it will never happen

July 17, 2014 at 10:39 am #258386I just renewed my rego and it wad the equivalent of two new tyres, a goggle lens, a slab of beer and one tank of fuel. Seems response to be able to ride where and when I want.
I spent more at a restaurant last week and the food wasn’t even that good!!STM
