Col and Ben are Gmac’s brother and nephew.

They were having a ride and camp weekend near Lithgow. Gmac invited me along :woohoo:

Col is a long time friend of Snowy  (I didn’t think Snowy had any friends :P ) Snowy and a few of the Tamworth crew came along as well as a couple of other mates of Col and his other brother Doug. That made twelve of us, and we didn’t have a last supper

Friday arvo was the start of what was going to be a top weekend of riding. We hit some fast open stuff, some technical stuff, some great views, some unusual rock formations and a very sweet and at times slippery single to finish off the afternoon.

Saturday was cool and there had been some over night rain on the trails but not at camp, this meant no dust :woohoo:

We rode some steep rocky down hills full of steps which led to the same only going up, some more sweet singles, fast open stuff to cool down on then straight back into more singles. The highlight of the morning was a sweet flowing, bermed cornered, up and down, slippery at times single that went on forever :woohoo:

Unfortunately after a rest Shaun’s bike wouldn’t start. Two stayed with Shaun, Matt nursed Boony back to camp with a sore knee and the rest of us rode some more technical singles back to camp.

Sunday’s easy ride turned out to be on one of Galey’s grade 4 singles, I’ve seen videos of the tricky bits posted previously. Luckily the Tamworth crew weren’t aware of this and were suckered in

A bit of pushing and shoving got everyone through and we hit some more flowing singles and the very sweet single from Friday again. Back to camp for pack up and head home.

All in all a top weekend, and I’m looking forward to the next one :woohoo:

Thanks to Col and Ben for organizing, leading and sweeping, Gordon for inviting me and sweeping Friday and Matty for sweeping today ;)

Got a small bit of video to come, however Ben got a good bit of the grade 4 stuff and I noticed Boony had his camera too.

    Adam.

PS did I mention Snowy got three flat tyres, one Saturday and two Sunday   :pinch:

    Great weekend.

    Highlights
The great trails, great mob of blokes and great times. Looking forward to seeing the videos

    Low light the three flats.
One front and two backs. All super thick tubes, the last one got a three inch roofing nail in it.. How does that happen in the bush?

An OBT ride report that was never posted up in NSW Rides? Fair enough.

This ride was not organised by obt members. We are just sharing our weekends riding with obt members. Not every ride in nsw is an old bills ride.

I went along for this Lithgow ride and just became a member of this OBT site. Great weekend away with a great bunch of guys. Even it did end up costing me more money than i expected but thats what you get when “test riding”.

Jess Gardiner was/is a great ambassador for this sport and the mighty Sherco team. A couple of old farts ride over chuck their helmets off and start chatting and she turns around like we were uncles and says “oh thank god another Sherco rider I broke my subframe can I have yours? just joking”
The log was at least a metre high and more and she’d been climbing over it with no ramp or run up just front wheel bump and over. No matter what is said, I will say this , this person can ride a damn bike.
Snowy met her too, up side down in a boghole creek crossing in the mddle of swamp near camp he was tying to get his bike to stop drowning him underneath it… while we watched, just after he regained composure and stopped screaming somehting about “could of been killed” which was nonsense, the CRF is such a forgiving bike Im sure it would of let him up prior to that, thats how it looked to us as Jess Gardiner presprung the suspension bounced over him stopped on the other side looked down at Snowies wet slimy bulk standing crying, and tore a hole through the bog on the way out. (side note: she got caught on a piece of wire at the fence at the road side and went nearly over the bars ( side note: we laughed at that too so stop complaining that we didnt help Snowy)
Later that day I tried to emulate my now hero Jessica by racing Boony to same said bog crossing, meeting myself an not Boony there I was in such good spirit I had forgotten where Snowy had gone asunder and presprung the suspension and….nose dived into the massive bog hole going over the bars at 10km/hr digging my Jess Gardiner replica helmet visor into the other side of the bank. (Side note: Boony laughed so hard wee came out ) Im still limping.

Thank you to Col and Ben for inviting Snowy and Snowy for inviting me. Ill definitely be back this way riding it was eppic singlesville. Single track not unwed people that is.

Snowys “mate” Col and his young bloke Ben organised for snow to drag a couple of us Tamworthian’s down to the Lithgow area for a weekend of yahooing, beer drinking, laughing, piss taking and even some dirt bike riding. The date for this ride was changed about fifty gazillion times and some of the other Tamworthian’s decided , stuff that they`ll go over to the Barrington’s for a ride with storky, Not sure how that ride went, haven’t seen the ride reports yet..
Anyway the cool crew B) headed south on one of our epic road trips, we arrived at the camp ground and were greeted by quite a few other keen riders that were there for the weekend. :)
We set p castle de Tamworth and the padded up for a “short” :woohoo: Friday arvo warm up. Col apparently knows this area like the back of his hand as he led us on some of the sweetest trail in the universe. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
We returned to camp and you guessed it (let the drinking begin).   Tea had and the ring of knowledge was underway, :P
Saturday morning dawned a bit foggy but the promise of bigger and better trails had us all sited up straight after the bacon and scrambled egg brekkie. The ride was awesome, the trails are un bloody believable, :cheer: the scenery was epic and the company were great. Following a small injury worry Matt decide he would escort me out of the scrub using his dash GPS. :pinch: On our way back to camp we came across a car park and in this car park were about 3 or 4 large vans. One of the vans belonged to the sherco sponsored rider Jessica Gardiner .  turned out she had ridden over to a track near our camp to shoot a riding video. Matt and I approached her to say g’day and she was very receptive to us and was happy to have a chat ;) and have her photo taken with us, She kind of looked at me when Matt said would you mind if we got a photo and she said that’s fine and I said no can you take a photo of us…  It was not long after this snowy thought he and the trusty CRF 250 could walk on water, :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: You know its bad when damus walked back from seeing what happened and said “I want nothing to do with that, all you can see it the tail light of a crf.     This is when Jessica was leaving the area and literally bunny hopped over snow and looked back and shook her head.

    More to come

This drowning bike story is getting out of hand. It was simply a case of mistake identity. I identified the crossing as a narrow shallow trickle. When it was actually the western branch of the amazon with a bottomless sinkhole. The bike was never in danger of drowning as I was stuck between it and the bottom of the river.

As for the Jess Gardiner comments she never said anything derogatory she simply said she didn’t know honda were now making 250cc submarines.

There is no ride report as the ride was postpone due to the bloody wet weather :( :( but it will happen :) :)

This report is a good read though waiting for the more. Interesting comment about the subframe.
