I bought a pair of Leatt’s new knee braces today. First impression is that they are a very nicely built piece of kit. All alloy and carbon and very light. They only have a hinge on one side so that you can grip the bike better and that pivots in two places to better mimic the natural movement of your knee. The hinge itself runs on bearings and feels incredibly smooth.
There are insert stops to dial in your extension point and the thigh cup is on a rail so that you can dial that in. The real test is on the bike but so far it seems that Leatt are onto something pretty trick!
If they do feel bad on the bike at least you could wear them out to the bar and pick up chicks with Terminator quotes because they look f*$king robotic on your legs!!

Here is the blurb from the Leatt rep

March 11, 2015 at 7:56 am #261340They look the goods mate , I’ll be really interested in what you think on the bike as my Asterix have had 3 years very regular use and are starting to let go ( only because of crashes not general use !!)
I like the single sided hinge idea too , if they prove to be as supportive with better bike feel they might be my next pair too !!

March 11, 2015 at 8:21 am #261341They do look good, Im still using the Asterisk Cells and the only complaint has been the bulk
Not sold on the securing straps as they look like a regular maintenance item..The femur bone comment is one i hadn’t heard before, The other weekend i went down and rode off
But the aftermath was a big ring on the knee cap and an even bigger yellow black ring around the top of the braceIf they pissed off the straps and went with the wire ratchet i would consider them..
Is it just me or does the treadly champ have them on the wrong legs?

Nice call Usi.
You are right about the wrong legs.

August 5, 2015 at 6:44 am #261343Any further thoughts STM? almost 5 months on now, how are they going?
Cheers, B.W.
August 5, 2015 at 9:33 am #262467I’ve had mine for a while thanks to STM and I have to say that the bike feel is second to none compared to a full brace, I really don’t notice them at all. The straps can be a bit fiddley until you’ve got them spot on. The only negative issue I had was that after around 15 hours of use a few of the screws started to loosen , no big deal really but well worth putting on the Loctite from new

August 6, 2015 at 12:40 am #262471Thanks Nick, next time I’m in civilisation I’ll get hold of a set. Do you wear the wear the under sleeve things or you find they don’t need them?
Loctite, noted.
They’re pricey, but cheaper than 6 months off work.
Cheers BWAugust 6, 2015 at 12:45 am #262478….also, any Old Bulls sponsors or members stock these ?
August 6, 2015 at 9:40 am #262479I don’t wear the under sleave as I always wear skins so I’m not sure if they’d rub or not mate
