Big thanks to LC and Dan for organising this ride
The drive down through Sydney sucked as always
Arrived at Merry Beach just on dark and unfortunately took out a Roo on the last section of road.
Day one saw us almost straight into some single and I thought it was going to be on all day. A relative of the Roo I hit tried to take me out but he wasn’t big enough to me push over, thankfully. :pinch: Did some nice singles and even a hill but the time spent on the dusty open roads was a little bit disappointing. On saying that I know it is hard to tailer a ride for such a big crew.
That night had us sitting around a fire swigging drinks and talking crap as per usual.
Day two was a better ride. Woke early and had a swim at the beach to clear the head and we were off to our starting point a little further south. Came across a nasty accident, car on its roof that looked pretty stoved in. It only happened a couple of minutes before we got there but there were plenty of people to lend a hand. Just hope everybody was OK.
Geared up and we were into the singles straight off the bat :woohoo:
Did some really nice singles through out the day and there was no where as much open stuff as the day before :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Especially liked the singles in the creek/rainforest.The transport sections we had to do didn’t worry us as the ground was damp from the showers the night before, NO DUST :woohoo:
Anyway thanks to all for making it a great weekend
Oh, and cheers to Pikey for sweeping the second half of day one and throwing a few Wild Turkeys my way through the night. Mate you should of stayed for Sundays ride, it was a pearler. :woohoo:
Some pics to come
Cheers

Friday had a good mix of singles, technical stuff and twisty twin track with little dust as the showers earlier in the week kept the ground damp
Only holdup was Sam’s flat and then the pinched spare tube :pinch:  Thanks Bernie for the loner
We finished earlier than expected which meant we had plenty of time to settle into our digs at Merry Beach :cheer:
Saturday had some dust, you can’t predict where the rains going to fall  I thought after Fridays ride we would have been fine
I had a shocker of a start, losing it in a rut and a ripper on a steep down hill :pinch:
Lucky all the armour we wear does its thing
The track that stands out for me on Saturday was the muddy track :woohoo:
We did it one way in the morning and it had some really boggy sections with a heap of options, most dodgy  Then in the arvo we hit it again the other way :woohoo:
The fun thing was you knew their were dodgy sections and still had know idea which one to take
I tried to wave Murph past so I could follow and let him see which option to take, or not to take as the case may be however he was using me for that very purpose
A few good chases back through other singles finally saw us at our digs and with a wash, copious amounts of beer, prawns, dinner, wine and apple cider ensuring a sleepless night and doughy head for Sundays ride  :pinch:  :woohoo:
Saturday nights rain was music to my ears, as I wasn’t sleeping, at least I knew it wasn’t going to be dusty :cheer:
What a cracker, Matt did really well even though the landscape had changed due to logging
I really enjoyed the rain forest track too :woohoo: Total respect was required for the tree roots
and I saw a few who failed to show their respect   Did I mention the rocks were slippery too
Chasing G Mac chasing Murph was one of the highlights for me until we came past one of many bee hive areas. Murph went wide of the hives and G Mac with me following went between. Murph and G Mac met, stopped and exchanged pleasantries deciding who should give way whilst I’m stuck with a billion (yes a billion) bees buzzing around me
A quick shout of lets get the f#@! out of here saw Murph take off with everyone behind getting going as fast as they could
The track that followed was a pearler :woohoo: and it was one that we had to return on :woohoo:
A great weekend
Thanks to Pikey who took over sweep duties on the dusty Saturday, he looked a classic when he took his helmet off at the end  And I know he’s a tuff bugger because he uses dencorub for toothpaste and only complained that it wouldn’t froth up
Thanks to everyone else that came to make it an enjoyable weekend
Adam.
March 23, 2015 at 3:11 am #261459I had a great weekend with a 60k loop at Nicks place on Wednesday arvo, a 15k sprint at STMs parents place after a 9hr drive on Thursday arvo, then a 3hr drive to meet LC and the gang assembled at the start point for an awesome 70k loop on Friday arvo which was a highlight for me with the rocky ridgeline being right up my alley
, thanks to Sam for getting the puncture just before the rocks started because I needed a breather
After LC was let down by his lead rider for the saturday loop  he managed to string together a ride that kept everyone happy with a good mixture of tracks and different terrain which saw a fair amount of incidents for everyone to talk about 😆 😆
The Saturday night drinks and chat was as much fun as always and late into the night with LC sat next to me I was impressed with his ability to still drink beer even though he was asleep
Many thanks to LC but also to Nickj , and STMs parents for their hospitality
Thanks to Muz,STM and Pikey for sweeping
Nice also to meet lots of other Old Bulls
After a 6am start on sunday morning I rolled up at my place 14 hrs later, a great 4 days

Only rode the two days ,that’s enough for me.I really enjoyed both days of riding although pretty wrecked by the days end .
Big effort by all the bays that traveled especially the North coast lads and Mike.
Will try to get some footage over the next few days.
PikeyMarch 24, 2015 at 8:29 am #261478Thought that last pic was Damus for a second
Looking good boys
March 24, 2015 at 10:11 am #261479Well I had an absolute ball. My first OB ride, was nice to meet you all. (though I knew a few of you already).
Thanks LC for leading us on some pretty cool trails, and the sweeps for eating all that dust. Thanks Galey for the ST rivalry, I love that sh#t. And Nick, hope you pulled up ok after being dragged off ya bike by the neck from that thick vine. Looked horrible from my vantage point right behind you. Hope to be on another OB ride again soon.cheers, Bernie
March 25, 2015 at 8:20 am #261480Great report, felt like I was there. mabey next time
March 25, 2015 at 9:14 am #261484Great ride LC , thanks heaps mate !!
The road trip from my place on the north coast started Wednesday with Mike arriving and is riding my local as a warm up !!
We picked up STM on Thursday amd made great time to Sydney where we road the most secret ( and sweetest ) single trail in oz !!
Friday was LCs turf and the singles are some of the best I’ve ridden , seemingly endless and all in great shape !!
Saturday at Merry beach was a top spot to wake up and the single trails LC had for us where great fun and I had some fun runs with some very competent riders , the pace all weekend was good and no injuries was a bonus . The Saturday bog hole fest was funny as , and I will never again follow Dunnys line on any trail
My highlights were :
Catching up with the always fun OBT tribe
The trials section on Friday , the height of the cliffs and the cravases we hopped over kept me on my toes , it’s the best technical trail I’ve ridden
Meeting LCs mates Muz and Dunny , both funny buggers who I hope to meet again !!
Cheers LC for a great ride , STM and Mike for the 2000 km road trip of piss taking and beer
Nick
