Thinking Big for next year
I would like expressions of interest for two rides next year
1st/ Two or three day high country ride, through the NSW / VIC high country, this would require support vehicle with sat phone. I have secured some mapping and track information from a guide in the area and have detailed maps of tracks covering Cobbler Plateau, Mitchell’s Flat, Mt Stirling & Craig’s Hut, The Bluff, Butcher Country, Wonnangatta Valley, Crooked River, Moroka Magic, Haunted Stream, Dogs Grave, Camp Oven Gap, Mt Pinnibar, Davies High Plain, The Playgrounds, Wombat Amble, Buckland Valley, Geehi Walls, Ravine, Broken Cart Trail and Bago Forest.
2nd/ 6 day ride from Dubbo to Cameron corner (Cnr NSW, SA and QLD) and back
The ride would track railway service line twin trail, fire tracks and dirt roads and require a support vehicle, crew and good radio coverage. Some of the overnights would be camping but mostly pubs etc for an evening. All of these things can be done, I would like to do both, high country around March and other around July to Oct.
I organised a Cape York trip in 2004 with the help of some friends and would look to do it that way again
I would like to keep this thread just for interested people, I will set up a chat thread for it later. You won’t be held to going but it will require a bit of work so I would like to know who’s interested
Cheers TB

August 16, 2008 at 1:04 pm #107069Hey TB put me down for the rides, be interested in organising it with ya. As for support vehicles the Hilux would be ready to go with the trailer (will take the bike also, do riding then swap out for driving if someones feeling knackered). I know Scooter and the Myth would be pretty keen to do the same thing.
Anyway let me know
MadMacs
P.s the 2nd ride will go past my Brother in law wheat farm (Grahame) out at Parkes.
Lots of shearers quarters out there to stay at. -
