The Australian Safari started today. Bad news in the autos with last years winner John Hedrics rolling in the first competitive stage.
There were 3 competitive stages today.
Benny Grabham was quickest on his CRF in the 1st stage by 6min 10sec to Shane Diener on his KLX.
In the 2nd stage, Shane was fastest by 1min 10sec.
In the 3rd stage, Strange on his CRF beat Shane by 57sec and was 2min 59sec ahead of Benny in 5th.
Overall, for the First day, Ben is in front by just under 3 minutes to Shane. Then Jacob Smith is back 8minutes behind him.
It’s a great mix over the top 10, with only 22 minutes separating them. It’s CRF, KLX, WR, WR, KTM, CRF, KTM, WR, CRF then KTM.
Of course, the XR650 gets a special mention coming in in 13th, only 35 minutes behind.
The gun Husaberg 650 with Thomas Jacobsen is in 17th.
“Plugger Lockett” in 39th from the 51 starters.
