    Parkes to Cameron Corner ride

    I have been speaking to som locals and getting some details

    Here is a rough draft of a first day

    DAY 1 376kms

    Parkes to Condobolin

    102kms

    17kms Bitumen

    85kms dirt

    Fuel at Condo

    Condobolin to Euabalong West

    75kms

    4kms Bitumen

    71kms dirt (pretty straight)

    Euabalong West to Ivan hoe

    199kms nearly all dirt

    Note: Matakana Rd runs parallel from Kidman Way rd crossing to Roto Rd

    Fuel at Ivan Hoe

    Overnight stay

    Thoughts??

    Any dates planned?
    The VOR won’t do that sort of thing but teh Toyoda will, and I haven’t had a road trip in so long…

    Beauty we need to sit down in a group and talk support vehicles, planning etc

    Would like to have a meeting one sunday at a pub with everyone thats interested and can make it, will work that out later

    Thats what I wanted to talk to you about Mac, we need a base and I remembered you said someone was there, great

    Mac that sit down chat at a pub would require you there if we can organise it at a later date, as I think one of your trailers at least would be needed.

    Het TB yeah mate the paws good but gotta another 5 weeks in the cast ( snuck a ride in with Richy the other day on the R1 when the missus was at work) hurt like hell maybe she was right:angry: anyway my brother in laws up there and got heaps of beds in the shearers quarters 10kms outta Parkes would make a good base all dirt roads and a quick back road to Condo (few pubs on the way to as you know)Roger Haddril also lives at Condo (you met him his boys came 1st and 2nd in the repocharge at YM) so we got a place there to. Anyway will get together with ya (going to Forbes this weekend) hope you’s have a good weekendend at the Watagans

    I would say 7 days to cover it Champ, stay tuned next week should have more details, including most of the route for the bikes and the support vehicle

    Did you say you maybe up for a road trip with your 4w4, is it a ute or sedan or what is it, Mac has a trailer, is your 4w4w petrol or diesel ?

    4wd diesel ute with canopy, fridge, big esky etc. I also have a trailer but I’m hunting some toyota wheels for it.
    I’m up for a road trip but need dates well in advance.

    Toyota rims.
    I think ive got 4 sunrayasia here tyre are stuffed thou( will check i brought them separately for my mini digger (so cant be sure for a toyota) will check if they are you can have ’em.

    Thanks for the offer Macs but don’t look too hard. I need ’em with tyres and aren’t in a real hurry. I should have said I’m looking for standard wheels and tyres to suit the ute so that I have extra spares that match the trailer. I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, the trailer is ready to go with the ford rims it has…

    When a set turn up on ebay or something for a nice tightarse price I’ll pick ’em up. I don’t actually ‘need’ them (now I’m sounding like my mrs!)

    Given this is likely to be a multi-day ride and bearing in mind that an award was given for the YM event, would it be too much to suggest a big deal be made of the last night before the run home?

    What am i thinking you ask?

    Well, what about a black tie event. Bit of a feed, a little drinkie ;), and some awards for the trip handed out, the odd comical speech delivered? I’ve seen reports of black tie events being held out in the middle of nowehere…

    Just a random thought from up here.

    Yes thats the go, some awards and a drink.

    7 days I reckon and last nite turn out, would look to have it around this time next year say July, August or September.
    Say leave Parkes Saturday get back on the following Saturday, have a do on the Saturday nite and find someone to drive you home on the Sunday.
