Well after all the years of people hanging it on me about the XR’s I love and ride, I have heard all the names about my beloved BRP’s eg Lounge Chair, prairie wagon, tractor, farm implement just to name a few. I have also had the odd question regarding riding the BRP, like A4DE 2006 when I guy asks “Are riding that?”, and you give your best “yeah” and him and his mates laugh at you and walk off. I held my own that event and was happy with how we both went. I have stuck firm with my love for better or for worse and really there has never been a worse.
People tell me all the time my bikes to heavy, my bikes old technology, its doesnt have upside down forks and this and that, so with these words of wisdom ringing in my ears I have taken Chopper up on his open offer and borrowed his 2007 CRF 450X for a nth coast ride that I am going on. I am taking my 650 of course as I will ride the 450 on the silly, Ezenberg style ride that Mick and rider X seem to have planned for little old me and the other day the big girl.

I plan on giving my honest opinion and thoughts and am looking forward to using the electric leg and working out am I really missing out. I have just picked the CRF450 and will give them both a service and some setup on Choppers.

Hey I will always ride an XR, just thought I will try this out

TB, iI didn’t mean to frighten you. If I can get my BRP through, your hi tech bitch will eat it.
But bring the CRF, as they are awesome machines.

I think you can get a bigger big through twisty single track, it’s just harder work. I don’t have any issues riding my 450 when out with the 250 boys. Sure it might be easier riding a 250 through a particular section but it doesn’t mean I’d give up my 450.

I reckon they just need to harden the f*#k up:laugh:

Not as gay as poncing around the internet pretending to be a squirrel;) If you were really cool you’d ponce round the internet pretending to be Borat like me. Choke on my fat nuts little squirrel:kiss:

You know what boys the thing I find, be it tight, fast no matter what, when you hit someting with a BRP it stays hit and you dont bounce smack and continue.

PS the 450 doesnt have a damper, havent ridden a bike without a damper for a few years now

I take it you mean a steering damper? I don’t have one, although I will probably get one. I went to Newcastle KTM the other day to buy an oil drain plug ($15) and walked out having arranged to have my bike sent up to have an Titanium exhaust fitted, the bike re-jetted and almost a steering damper fitted too! They’ve got so many shiny bits in there I’m sacred to go back :-O

I was sceptical about how effective the damper would actually be until I rode a bike with one. Very impressed. Reduces deflection significantly which makes for a much more stable ride. I can see it giving peeople the confidence to go quicker.

Bring on the tank slappers TB :P

No no I mean big heavy motobike hit something, something stays hit, to heavy to bounce or move or deflect just crushed!

Then I talked about steering damper, yes best thing to have, them and mmousse tubes

The XR too old for rebound adjustment then? Just joking ;) I know a heavier bike feels more planted. God knows what it’s like riding an ickle 125 at speed on the really bumpy rocky stuff.

I reckon, in all honesty that a 300 smoker is probably the best do it all off road bike. Enough low down torque, power up top and even a nice midrange (especially with the angry powervalve fitted). I liked the 300EXC but just couldn’t bear to listen to the engine all day. Looking forward to seeing how much extra snap the new zorst and jetting give me on my bike. The dude had just done his in the shop and it sounded alot more responsive when he was chopping the throttle on and off. We’ll see. It should be sorted just before the Watagan’s ride so you might see me popping mono’s out of corners into the tree’s!

Faark it, you probably see that anyway ;)

    So,,,

    What’s the verdict?
I had trouble choosing between red and blue so I went white & black.
