MickNovember 5, 2008 at 11:27 am #108182Yeah Mickj,
Welcome to OB`s mate. Good to see a composite guy on here taking bike parts, excellent stuff the old GRP. I`m currently working on a 32m carbon fibre catamaran (undergoing a refit) New 40 m carbon mast, new rigging, major composite alterations to structure etc full interior replacement.
CheersNovember 5, 2008 at 12:34 pm #111496Thats a big job who’s doing the refit .
Im more used to new gear going out rather than working on refits
There’s serious $ in that baby .
mickjNovember 6, 2008 at 7:47 am #108183Newcastle leg of Azzura Marine managing project. Actual work done by us, crew members, casual employees & sub-contractors.
Been out of water almost 2 years now, looking the goods though now that the structural work is complete. Painting & assembly starting now.

I know some guys down at azzura in Nowra
They do some really nice work with carbon
Their carbon helm wheels & masts are real nice , they have some really talented guys working for themNovember 6, 2008 at 10:38 am #108184Cool,
I considered moving down there a year ago to re locate the family & get away from a bad experience at an ex Newcastle shipyard.
Can`t say why I decided to stay around really, but Azzura in Newcastle is slowly taking off it seems. Fingers crossed that the money market that has slowed things, improves soon,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

November 6, 2008 at 10:55 am #108185HA HA,
It`s old news now man, a year ago next week to be precise.
Sensation Yachts went bust, I worked for them from when they entered Newcastle waters- up until I smelt a rotten festering rat not paying wages, super, bills etc etc etc
So I left to save my marriage & family from becoming destituteJust in time I reckon cause after I left em in Nov 2007 things went even further downhill FAST !!!!!!!!!!
Spoke to an ex manager just today who is still owed over $10,000 in Super:angry:
Reckon I was lucky as I had mine investigated & recovered all but $900 odd -
